Could the Sens make a pitch for Plekanec ?

Spezza out ... Fisher out ... Alfreddson possibly on the market, Sens looking for new leadership ?
and a solid D ?

I mean it could be a 3 way trade ... who knows ...

Thoughts ?

Anything's possible but I'm not sure Plekanec is synonymous with leadership. I doubt Habs management is looking to trade Pleks and I don't think Pleks is what Ottawa needs either.

I would tend to agree especially with the unknown of Bonk being around next season.

Considering everyone's thinking we need more centers, someone to center the 2nd line and all... why should we get rid of one...

plus, like mentionned already, Plekanec is Bonk replacement next year at the very worst...

Pleks is good but Bonk has something he doesn't have: size. Defensive awareness is good but add some size on top of it and the player becomes that much more effective. Do you see Plekanec covering players like Joe Thornton? I don't see it happening. Bonk can do it.

I'd try my best to keep the hobo around if i were the habs.

I agree, I like Bonk. He is more valuable defensively even than Johnson.

As for Plekanec, if we find a #2 scoring centreman, I can see him as the centre on an energy line with Latendresse on left wing and Lapierre converted to right wing. That's a "fourth" line that will score some goals (remember Risebrough, Tremblay, Lambert).

Why would they want Plekanec?

They have Vermette who is better and Kelly who is at least as good as Pleks.

They have better centers than we do, so it doesn't make sense. If anything, they'll go for Morrison or someone who can put up bigger numbers than Plekanec or Bonk.

Size is overrated. Chris Higgins is (in my opinion) our best PKer and he's very average in terms of size in the NHL.

Pkers dont really need to be big, read the play well, have good positionning and be fast....
In fact, the best pkers have never been the biggest guys in the league
On the other hand for a 3rd center that s supposed to be the checking line, Bonk s better than Plek, and ONE of the reason is him being much bigger than Pleky. Bonk always manage to get in the offensive zone because he protects well the puck (While Plek can only get in the O zone because he s fast) and obviously that s also why he s better at covering big guys, because he s bigger and more experienced, and they re both as good when they dont have the puck.
But Pleky, for his salary is an awesome hard working center that still need time to develop.
But he ll always be a good Pler or defenisve guys guys he s fast and smart
Any guys that are fast and smart can succeed on the PK

We need a number 2 center. I dont see that adressing the situation....in fact I see it goig the opposite way.

Of all the centers in the NHL, why would the Sens set their sights on Plekanec?

Everyone seems to forget Plekanec, as tiny as he is, was doing a hell of a job centering the 3rd line last year... as a rookie!

And he had the same kind of numbers offensively that Bonk is having this year...

Don't trade with Ottawa. Besides, Ottawa has played better without Spazza. The reason being: Spazza is lazy in his backchecks and it reflects on the rest of the squad. When he's not there, the cheaters tend to disappear.

I see them trading away Kaigorodov + a pick for Comrie before signing Allison.

Spezza's out 4-6 weeks... at exactly the 5 week mark (end of AS break), we'll have played 12 more games. Hennesey is being called up and the plan could just as well be to ride this out and give him some experience. Then Spezza comes back, a week or two later Fisher ... and then both of our goalies will get hurt in the same game.

Nope, like I said, HAD... as in : last year when he was playing on the 3rd line... Just look at Bonk numbers this year, and Plekanec numbers last year...

Trading him ? no way! the guy can do what Bonk is doing right now (did it last year) at around 1/3 the price... it's because of guys like theses that you can save enough money to resign UFA like Souray or Markov...
