Come on, give some credit to the Blues. They're 4-2-3 under Murray. I know the effort tonight wasn't what you would have liked, but the truth is, it would have been more than enough to have beaten the early season version of the Blues.

Can't really say, although with the way he played tonight I would assume so. They won't dare start Bacashihua.

Ahh, but the problem there would have been, had the Avs played this game with the earlier Blues they would have come out give the Blues every breakaway, oddman rush and free shots at the net plausible without making it look like you're trying to screw someone over.

...and the Blues still would have lost it in shootouts.

As far as starting Bacashihua tomorrow goes, I woudn't mind seeing that. The guy is a capable young goalie.

The Blues are definitely playing better hockey under Murray.

Phew, sucks to be the Avs right now. They have to be hurting after that performance. My rather ranty/lengthy review is up.

Credit Legace, though. He had a pretty good game.
When hasn't he had a good game against Colorado? Has he ever lost to the Avs?

Legace is a career 9-1 against Colorado. 2.10 GAA and a .929 save percentage.

I think the problem with this team is clear. Have we won a game yet where Brisebois didn't play? This team would be unstoppable with Breezy, Niinniimmaa (didn't know how to spell it, went the safe route), and Ozolinsh.

Legace made a few nice stops and played well, but this was not a case of a goaltender "stealing" a game. To say that would be giving the Avs way too much credit for the "effort" they gave tonight.

I guess it's just me, but I didn't think the Avs played all that badly. They weren't able to capitalize on their chances especially Stastny's late in the game (someone really needs to get him to try out a composite stick) but I didn't think they gave a weak performance. St. Louis was just the benificiery of a couple good bounces and perfect shots, along with great goaltending once again from Legace and a tight checking hard working system where as we couldn't get any bounces go our way. The Blues finished all their checks with force, and made us pay every chance they got. We, on the other hand just tried to dance around with our usual style.

The problem is this team isn't all that great this year it seems at making their chances count, and St. Louis barely gave them any room, so every shot was along the ice, and when Legace is playing against us he just eats up all the shots down low. Budaj can't really be faulted on any of the goals, they were just perfect tips, or perfect shots. We didn't get those breaks tonight, and the pk was unable to step up once again. It wasn't that exciting of a game, but that's just the way the Avs play against tight checking teams, and rightfully so. They want to keep it simple and play well defensively themselves, and hope their better offensive players will give them the edge. They did play well defensively I thought, as they limited the Blues to only 20 shots, but again they just didn't get the bounces tonight. That's pretty much it in my book.

But come on Foppa, according to some on the board Budaj is the second coming of Patrick Roy, and whenever he plays we win...it must have just been the refs or Theo's fault last night

I'm joking of course

I don't think they played terribly, but they also didn't look like they had any fire, or desire to win

The Avs can't seem to stay away from .500 very long.

So it's right back there tonight. Blues complete the sweep, 3-1.

It's a new day and a new game! Preview of the game is up:

The Avs will beat the Blues worse than Liddell is going to beat Ortiz tonight

Why not? Even he could have beaten the Avs that played last night.

I'm still mad about Lappy taking that crosscheck penalty. Putting us 5 on 3 for 1:40 is just crazy, when he gets the award for most obvious penalty.

Not that Hejduk's was much better.

I disagree. More in the sense that they displayed a complete lack of urgency for virtually the entire game. This included their PPs as well, which showed no urgency at all. To me, they looked largely disinterested in putting forth a passionate, or even hard-working, effort last night.

The Denver Post reports that last night was a sellout. While at the same time Altitude said it was the smallest crowd the Avs had ever played in front of (yes, I know the difference between announced / tickets sold, and who shows up). Funny, I don't remember hearing an announced attendance last night at the game.
