Hey guys, I'll be in-town for the Habs/Sabres game tonight.

I have a philosophy that is against paying out of my ass for jacked up parking prices. I saw the parking thread, but the last post was in 2007.

I was just wondering where the cheapest places to park are? I don't care about the walking distance and I would prefer to stay under $10.

Any advice?

Last I went -- this was about 2 years ago -- it was helpful to do a drive around before the game. Get there early and you'll see $15 across from the arena, $12 next to it, and $8 1/2 a block away.

If you get there early, park for free on Perry St. between Erie and Pearl. Or go to the UB Main campus, pay $3.50 USD for a round-trip ticket on the train.

I always park just up Washington St. There are a couple parking ramps that are something like 8 bucks. Fairly reasonable and fairly close to the building.

Generally what I do is what Chain said. Park at UB, and take the train. So much easier, though If you do so, Id reccomend getting to the arena early to avoid the crowd on the train, and take the second train that leaves the arena after. So much easier then driving downtown on game night.

Hey,

I'm an Avs fan living in Rochester. I'll be going to the Sabres/Avs game in March and I am wondering if it is easy to get the Avs players autographs as they come in or leave the arena? Where would they be entering/exiting and what time should I be there?

I also follow the Sabres a lot now that I live close

It's not possible to get the autographs of visiting in teams in Buffalo during the morning practices at the arena, and I've never heard of anyone getting them after the games, so I'd presume you won't be getting any

Kind of an epic bump here... coming in for tomorrow's matchup, and looking for a good one within city limits. We're probably doing Pearl St. from 3-4 pm or so pre-game, then gabriel's gate after the game. Does it make more sense to get the BoW at Pearl and the wings at GG, do it all at GG and just get normal pub food at Pearl, or something else?

Thanks guys. This time please don't make me think I'm gonna die post-game like after Game 5 in 2010 lol

edit: Oh also, are draft beers in the arena still $6? Thanks again

Washington Square has hand carved roast beef. That's probably my favorite, in terms of what's close to the arena. It's a real hole in the wall blue collar place with great pub food.

Just checked it out online - that's exactly the kind of place we're looking for, thanks a bunch. Didn't show up on many searches either which makes sense.

If you (or any other Sabres fans for that matter) stumble across four multi-ethnic nitwits in Bruins jerseys, come on by for a round on us

Will be up there from Boston tomorrow as well, pregnant wife in tow. Be kind

Normally I would be a jerk about finding cheap and/or free parking, but having never been to Buffalo, pregnant wife with me, and seeing everyone post dollar amounts no higher than 15...I feel ok about it. See you all there.

This is a late reply but for future reference, you can park in the open air lot right across the street from Pearl Street Grill for $6.50. Plenty of spots and the walk is about 5-10 minutes from there to the arena.

Gabriel's gate is awesome. =) I'd probably prefer the wings there. To be honest you could probably hang out in the Allen Town area then move the car over to Franklin (a few blocks over) and park for free near Laughlin's...walk from Franklin to the Main Street train stop in front of Shea's and take the train down to the arena.

Beers at the arena I think are $6 for the smaller and $8.50 for the bigger ones.

Thanks for the info - yeah I had the wings there last time and they knocked my socks off, tremendous stuff.

We were thinking Allen Town post-game til 2 or so, mostly wanted to be near the arena for before the game. We're getting there around 3 PM and heading out the next morning around 9/10, and with Mass plates/Bruins stuff on my car I was thinking of putting it in a garage along Main/Pearl (our lodging's on Pearl near the Theatre district). If you know of any that have reasonable (<$30) overnight rates I'd be much obliged - thanks again.

Well, even in a garage if you park near Chippewa street you may get some drunk young idiots doing something to your car, then again they may not notice it.

I honestly don't think any overnight parking that I can think of will charge you $30...these must be Boston prices.

Wish I could offer more advice on overnight parking but seeing as I live here I haven't really had a need to park overnight.

Hahah yeah games in Montreal and Boston have forever scarred my wallet. That's a relief, I'm sure I'll find something reasonable - thanks again

If you want to be close to the arena before the game, you could always of course do Pearl Street as you suggested, or check out Laugerhaus95. It's a new place on Perry Street (a block away from the arena), it's sort of a Gastropub specializing in German/Belgian brews etc.

http://lagerhaus95.com/

On the same street you have Benchwarmers (http://benchwarmerssbg.com/), WJ Morrisseys (http://www.wjmorrissey.com/), and Cobble Stone (http://www.cobblestonebar.com/)

Anyway, have a good time. Hope you guys lose.

I think I am going to take a train from Pittsburgh to Buffalo. I've never taken a passenger train ride anywhere, and I've never been to Buffalo. So two birds with one stone. It's also worth mentioning that I have never been able to kill a bird with a stone, let a lone two. So this will be a Hat-Trick of sorts. lol

You don't have to worry about covering up your jersey. Your not in Vancouver. All class here in good ole Buffalo.

The key to that is to use a big rock and small birds:

Amen. Had a great time, definitely more pleasant than the playoff atmosphere last time I was there. the city's better than Marchand gives it credit for

The Annihilator at Pearl Street didn't quite annihilate and the kaiser roll for beef-on-weck is just too salty for me. I guess those (and Pouliot on the shootout) are my only complaints
