First of all I would love for this team to blow the Caps out 7-1 (or 1-0 or whatever), turn things around and go back on another winning streak. Unfortunately I'll believe that when I see it, but I do think they have a chance to beat the Caps Saturday night.
The Caps sound like they've been attacked by the flu (good thing we recovered from THAT!) and will be very shorthanded Saturday. Also, they're playing their 4th game in 5 nights, something I thought the NHLPA didn't allow, but it's an advantage for us.
That said, I would prefer for the losing to continue, because even if we're able to beat a half-AHL Cap team I don't see us beating the Devils on Tuesday, Forsberg will probably have another four assist night against us Thursday, we have to go to Montreal next Saturday, then we have the Islanders again. All games which are likely to be losses.
Surely a 12 game losing streak would get SOMEBODY'S attention so SOMETHING would be done...that is, if anybody in management is even paying attention. A victory against a depleted Caps team in between all those losses would give people the false impression that this mix of players, coaches and management can actually win something against a real team.
Hopefully the Rangers lose by a score of 12-1......do you think that will get their attention. If Alex the Gr8 nets 6 goals and the Rangers drop 8 in a row...sadly, The management would probably tell themselves its just a bad slump, and continue to think (dream) that a stanley cup is within reach....lets be honest the Cup is not coming to the Garden anytime soon. I believe that when the Cup was brought to the Garden on Messier night, that the Rangers were cursed and will never win another Stanley Cup....ever!!!!11

This is my first GDT so it kinda sucks lol, but being the superstitious person I am, maybe a change in the GDT will bring a change of fortune for the Rangers tomorrow. Come on finish out 2006 with a WIN!
This team has so many basic problems, fundamental issues, that it's unreasonable to assume the losing streak will end anytime soon. So, I wouldn't mind seeing the losing streak continue too, but only if it means changes. Sadly, I think any changes we see this season are just gonna be stop-gap measures. Mark my words, we are done for this year. Last year was a fluke. Shanny is gonna get the first flight outa here come season end & never look back.
Renney will start Weekes tomorrow even though Lundqvist has been our only good player over the past 2 losses.....we will come out and score 5 goals after scoring 0 in the past 2 only to have a a shakey Weekes give up 7 to continue the losing streak.
There's no way I am ever rooting against the Rangers even if it means better things in the long run. I've rooted for them every single game since I was 3 years old and that isn't stopping just because of a putrid losing streak.
Even if they break the losing streak, this team has so many problems that it probably won't make a difference in the long run. Any team that uses a forecheck at this point would dominate them.
And just because they have a lot of AHL players doesn't mean the caps aren't dangerous. All those players are looking to prove themselves in hopes of gaining a more permanent spot. It be nice if more of the Rangers current roster would do the same.
See, that's the difference right there. Glen Hanlon has the Caps working hard every night, playing with grit and passion and determination. They play their system according to their level of talent- and everyone knows their role. You could say they are overachieving right now, but that's what responsible leadership will get you.
Are Ovechkin and Semin and Kolzig arguably better than Jags/Shanny/Henrik? Probably not, but if I were a betting man, I'd put my money on the Caps in the playoffs before us the way things are going.
Your nuts man. I'll be at the next 2 home games...and I'll tell you this...if either of them are like the game vs NJ sunday night...I'll rant and start a fire someone chant because when I left the NJ game nearly half the place was gone...I slept through the 3rd...etc
