Craig Rivet not the best in new NHL

isnt only me or Craig Rivet is really bad this year... he seem so slow, bad in is own zone and makes lots of mistake in offence... I just don't understand why everyone want him sign next year...

I want your idea on him because I think without is leadership he would be useless to the team and start to hurt the team more than helping it..

It could just be a bad year. Keep in mind he was pretty damn good last year whereas Dandenault sucked eggs. Now Dandenault is having a terrific year and Rivet has seemed lost out there a lot of nights.

Unfortunately for Craig, his play isn't going to help him land that big FA contract he was probably hoping for.

He's lost Markov as his D partner, which hurts. But guys like Rivet you have to wait with and trust they'll turn it around if they're not playing their best hockey. I haven't noticed him be particularily bad this year to be honest, but I'd agree it's not been his best year.

Dandenault was awesome last year after Gainey took over.

rivet and bouillon arent playing well at the moment but there's still alot of game in the season. I hope they get better or we will have a problem! Bouillon didnt had a training camp so Im still waiting and hoping for improvement.

If we dont resign Rivet, we are going to need another RD because O'Byrne and Biron are our next RD in the AHL. I dont think they are NHL ready. Another alternative would be to play a LD on their other side... not the best option. Especially if you consider a duo Bouillon/Streit.

How about Danny Markov? He is a hard nosed defenseman like Rivet who can be signed around 2.5 million?

i agree . rivet is a great team guy but he is in no way a top four defenceman , which , by the way is what i think the habs are in the most need of even more than a second line center .

Bouillon and Rivet should NOT be a defensive pairing

Markov - Komisarek
Rivet - Souray
Bouillon - Dandenault

As opposed to the old NHL, in which he was the greatest player ever.

I know he's said to be a great team guy and him and Saku are great friends but I beleieve he's a UFA at the end of the season so if they decide to let him go I'd have no problem with that, definetly let him finish off the year.

He'll be staying in Detroit if all he's commanding next offseason is $2.5M.

Bouillon got a surgery to his knee , so was unable to do a correct training last summer . He also wasn't there for the pre-season camp and missed a long period . He needs too find his top shape , but more important , needs to find his synchronism .

Rivet is just as bad as he was the previous seasons , exepted last year, where he played good .

He has done a great Aki Berg impersonation this year.

I think maybe Crosby is the best in the new NHL, not Rivet anyway, agreed.

I don't know much, but I do know this; Francis Boullion has been by far our worst defensemen this season. Rivet has looked like Lidstrom compared to Boullion.

Come on...It was written in the sky that Bouillon would be bad this year... he missed all the summer training and started skating in november... Plus this is his first year of contract. I'm not worried of Bouillon long-term level of play.

Agree, Rivet as much as I like him, has been very bad, he is to slow in the corners, has trouble clearing the puck from d-zone, makes stupid penalties etc.
I would let him go and put Streit in his place.
He just makes d-man that plays with him look bad, Souray, and now Cube
Souray has been good since playing with M.D
