GDT: Atlanta Illegal Goals @ Buffalo No Goal

Atlanta (23-10-6) at Buffalo (27-7-3)

Sorry about the title, but just so you know . . . Atlanta got an "illegal goal" recently when Slater scored with under 10 seconds left and Buffalo got hosed in the Finals in 99.

Now than - Atlanta has won 5 straight for the 3rd time in franchise history and seeks to break the record tonight.

Buffalo lost their last game against the Habs, but has only seven losses all season.

We all know how Buffalo was seeking to break the all-time record for wins to start a season when Atlanta beat them in a shootout, so they will be seeking revenge.

Leaders:

Goals
M. Hossa ATL 24
T. Vanek BUF 20

Assists
M. Hossa ATL 28
D. Briere BUF 30

Points
M. Hossa ATL 52
D. Briere BUF 44

Plus/Minus
N. Havelid ATL 12
T. Vanek BUF 21

Go Thrashers

Coburn with his first NHL goal tonight!!! (Yes, I know I say that every game, but one time I will be correct and will boast about my ESP or something)

I doubt this game will be as intense as their last matchup, you never know.

Drury also has 20 goals right now for the Sabres. Also, our last game was against the Cane's 4-1 win.

I'll be there at section 112, I hope it's just a great of a game as last time...well, with us winning of course.

OOPS!!!

I looked up "last five games" and the top of the list was the loss to the Habs so I figured it was the last game instead of 5 games ago.

I apologize for the mistake.

Hoping for a great one tonight and wouldn't be surprised to see OT and/or a shootout.

Just stopping over to say good luck before the game gets going. You guys scare me a lot. Should be as good of a game as last time if not better. I see a May series coming this year for these 2 teams.

That was a great quick-strike 3 pass goal. I thought Vanek would shoot, Kari probably stones him but the pass to Briere was sweet. FO to Atl, Miller has stopped all 13 shots, advantage Thrash except were it counts most.

I posted on the wrong thread

Have to at least get a puck on net when you get a breakaway. Frustrating 1st period for the Thrashers.

Its too bad the ref didn't lose sight of the puck in the other end... Oh, well. Funny how a brazillion shots during a scramble often as not ends up a goal against.

Good energy, glad that period is over though.

It's not difficult to assume a good breakout by a good team when there is a flurry at one net.

The 3 attacking forwards are usually deep and probably a defenseman gets sucked in too. Then, one flip to the middle of the ice and the other team automatically gets at least a 3-on-2 like in that case.

Textbook transition.

Those two 3rd per calls in a 2-1 game were the weakest I've see all year. If Buff gets those every home game, gee what an advantage.

And now they screw us out of a goal with a quick whistle when Miller muffs the catch & we knock it in -- then Buff gets a quick goal. Refs cost us 3 goals tonight (2 GA and 1 FOR) for sure, ruining a good close game.

Bad bounces. We've won a couple in the last 2 weeks we probably shouldn't have won. Too bad we can't break 5 wins in a row.

Crappy game. We outplayed Buffalo badly, but horrible calls and quick whistles by the refs gave Buffalo the game. I'm not saying that Buffalo didn't play well, but the refs made it hard for us to come back with this horribly reffed 3rd period.

Agreed - better team lost tonight.

Refs gave it to the Sabres.
