Should Burns play in WJC?

I know Doug made a statement that Burns would not be attending the WJC's this year, but do you think he should? I think that from the results we have seen with Bouchard, and Schultz, we should send Burns to compete. Let him be a leader and compete with players his age. I know it hurts us if he is gone, but with us struggling, maybe its the time to give Wanvig or Wallin some time in the bigs.

I think he should go. I guess I just think he should get the shot. He's probably got the talent to make the team, and I imagine it would be a highlight for him.

I agree with you two the he should go to the WJC. I think he would come back with a lot of confidence. The Wild have a few guys in Houston that need to have a chance to produce at the NHL level.

I'd rather see him go. He's been an OK player for us but the reality is he isn't lighting it up. He's not a vital clog to us like Rick Nash is to Columbus. IMO it would be a good experience for him to go.

We have players in Houston that can fill in if need be (though in reality there is going to be a numbers game if everyone gets healthy soon).

I agree with everything said above. Who is the coach for Canada during these WJC's? Could there be a problem with that coach? Maybe Risebrough and Lemaire don't like the style and/or coaching influence by someone they don't trust. I don't think it's the case, but I can't think of any other reasons why we wouldn't want him there.

I can't remember the coach's name for Canada's WJC team, but he was the coach for team QMJHL in the Remax challenge. As for Burns, get used to seeing him on the pro roster. TSN's Bob McKenzie did his Hockey Insider and looked at the players in the NHL who might represent Canada. He said Burns is a long shot at best to play because DR thinks that Burns is more valuable to the Wild than PM Bouchard last year was. Speaking of Bouchard, he's eligible but he won't play either.

Since Bob posts on the boards here, it would be nice if he could come and put some input but I doubt it. He's probably a really busy guy.

here are the coaches according to the OHL's website:

Head Coach: Mario Durocher, Lewiston MAINE-iacs
Assistant Coach: Dean Chynoweth, Seattle Thunderbirds
Assistant Coach: Jim Hulton, Kingston Frontenacs

Yup, that's actually exactly what was said on the air. He must have just read it off a teleprompter because it's the same word for word.
