Now that you guys have Nedved

Would the Oilers deal Stoll to Montreal for Souray?

Bring Souray back to Alberta.

I'd deal Stoll for a defenseman, but not a soon to be UFA.

Not even remotely close. There's no way I would even consider moving a quality young centreman for a soon-to-be UFA.

I don't really like parting with Stoll, but perhaps Horc. I think Stoll will supplant Horc on the 2nd line here in the next year and with Horc's contract he'd be the better choice to move. That being said, I'm not ecstatic about moving Horc unless its a huge deal/package. Something reminiscent of us getting Boyle+Vinny for Horc+whatever.

While Souray is certainly enticing, it'd be pretty difficult to part ways with Stoll right now. The only Oiler on this team, besides Smyth that is showing any sort of heart, muscle and determination game in and game out. Souray is also a UFA at seasons end. If Souray was locked up to a mid - long term contract before coming over along with a decent depth guy then I think it could be seriously considered.

We probably could give you an offensive winger as we have a glut of them. Ryder is available, as is Samansov. Also, Pitt would give us a lot for Kovalev. Maybe make it a 3 team deal. But we need a d-man back, M-A Bergeron?

Stoll and Marc-Andre Bergeron for Ryder and Souray would be a pretty fair deal for both sides.

I wouldn't do it for Souray but I would definetly consider Stoll for Markov

If Stoll is going then a guy like Markov is coming back and signing long term.

I'd move Horc before Stoll. Horc for Souray might be do-able.

Stoll, Tjarnqvist and a conditional 1st round pick for Markov, Plekanec and conditional 2nd round pick?

If Markov signs with the Oilers after the season you get the first round pick. If he doesn't sign then the Oilers get Montreal's 2nd round pick. Tjarnvist helps to fill in for Markov's missing minutes, and vice-versa for Plekanec.

Just a thought--feel free to flame away.

How about with a draft pick thrown in?

Lowe just confirmed the other day that he would not mortage the future of the Oilers. Your proposal goes against this principle, so the answer is NO. If the Oilers are interested in Souray, they will try and sign him in the summer as a UFA.

The Oilers and Habs are poor trading partners at this time. If we drop out of contention for a playoff spot, then a few of our vets could become available for picks or prospects, but not Stoll.

They were, in fact they have him listed when you look up his name in the players section as being an Ottawa Senator with this caption in his transaction section of his page:

"01-Jan-07: Ottawa Senators claimed Petr Nedved off waivers from the Philadelphia Flyers."

No chance Montreal would make this deal...Not even close to a fair deal!

Hahahahahahaha.

Top prospect + 1st + Stoll for an UFA? hahahaha Stoll alone would be too much for markov unless he signs a new contract.

I believe Horc is the odd man out if Nedved works out. With Syora and Hemmer in Edmonton, Nedved will be happy and stay. We just need a season out of him till Stoli is a number one center and Schremp improves his defense.

I really don't think Stoll's going anywhere. He's coming into his own as a leader on this team and his performances are getting more consistent with every passing night. Even if Souray had a contract extension, no dice from me.

Wow, this was the most painful thread I've ever had to read. So many bad proposals.

Souray, (soon to be UFA) won't get very much return imo. Maybe another UFA?

but yeah, terrible proposals all around.

There is no way I even consider moving Stoll given his play over the past 20 games, he's making me eat a crapload of crow this season. He's turning into a stellar leader out on the ice, his passing has improved and he's probably our most consistent physical player as well. Add in his ability to play the point on the powerplay and his faceoff percentage and this kid is definitely a keeper.
