Though the dust-up wasn't caught on camera, multiple sources told tsn.ca that Tampa Bay Lightning coach John Tortorella and forward Vaclav Prospal had a heated exchange during Tuesday's loss to Montreal.
I didn't. But I suspect that this was blown all out of proportion for the sole purpose of rumormongering. Having said that, I've been a fan of Vinny20 since before dirt was invented, so my own opinion is therefore suspect.
OK. Here's what the "eyewitness" posted on the Lightning's message board:
Hey bolt fans-
New to the board chiming in from Vt. Catamount country...been a fan since Marty joined TB and have subscribed to NHL center ice ever since to watch him and now Eric play. I went to the Montreal game the other night (I know, I know i should post this in other thread} and I take it the TV coverage did not show a very heated exchange between Prospal and Torts with about 6 minutes left in the 2nd. It was during a TV timeout, Prospal and Feds had only seen about 1.5 minutes of play in the second period and I noticed Torts was really laying into Prospal...at first I wasn't sure if he was trying to explain positioning but in the ensuing seconds/minutes it was clear they were at odds...Prospal wasn't backing down giving it back to coach and of course Tortorella would have no part of it becoming more and more aggitated. It finally ended as teammates grabbed Prospal(who was on the ice side of the boards) and got him away from the confrontation.
I am wondering why there was nothing about this in the local media.
As a conspiracy kinda guy, my guess would be because Feaster continues to feed the media ******** about how everything is hunky doory in the locker room. I read about this on Yahoo the day after the game and was waiting for the locals to report on it. It never happened and probably never will because no one wants anyone to think there are problems between the players and the coaching staff. We have been speculating as such for over a season now.
