Jagr

He needs to break out of the slump. His production has just stopped and his ppg is dropping game by game. Jagr needs to be the player he was at least at the beginning of the year, if not last year and start playing boldly or this team doesn't stand a chance in hell.

The amazing part about this slump is that in the past 2 games he has 2 points lol

hopefully hes starting to break out of it because I recall last year stretches of games where he'd record 3 points a game consequetively.

2 points in 2 games is slump for old-school JJ
Yep but his stickhandeling and shots are simply not there.
I think i know Jagr's play "inside out" because i watch him almost whole his career, but this recent slump is kinda weird. Month ago i read article how he has no strength in his shoulder still and that he lost lot of weight(so he is stability is decreased).
If he will get more weight(muscle type) and finally gets his shoulder together, he could produce more at the end of the season...which(if the NYR are in playoff picture) isn't exactly bad thing.
He is not winning Art-Ross by any means, it will be between Crosby-Hossa.
But Conn Smythe...hmm

remember how much we complained last year how all this team did was setup jagr for the one-timer???

Well guess what, i wish we were doing that again cause JJ was putting those setups in the back of the net. I cant recall but one time in 41 games that Jagr has taken the one times from the circle, and as i recall he scored on it.....

I think Jags will be okay. He is getting older, and I imagine the shoulder as Kostik pointed out is still an issue, so it's a little unfair to expect JJ production circa 1995. He ought to sit out the AS game and rest up, and I'm sure he'll end up in the neighborhood of 115-120 points.

If 3rd in the league in scoring is slumping, I hope the entire team slumps..

He has just been shadowed the entire game for the last few weeks..

I've watched him closely. His shoulder must not be right. He can't seem to pull the trigger on his patented cross the blue line moving to the left and shooting across his body to the right. Further, he is taken off the puck easier than in the past, since it appears he is protecting his shoulder. Age has nothing to do with his strength. His injury has everything to do with his play. If the team builds any type of playoff cushion, he should be rested for the good of the team

Once he touches the puck, he has two players on him...what do you expect from him?

He is not the same since he changed his gloves from Koho to RBK.

Please let him "pace himself" at a meager 100 pt regular season so if we do manage to make the playoffs he can still turn it on...

I'm not at all worried about Jagr's lack of scoring. Is his production down yes, but this isnt a first year guy who we dont know if he will be able to regain his scoring touch, this is a guy with 600+ goals who we knows is capable of carrying a team by himself practically, so while he isnt putting up amazing numbers just yet, I think he will start producing again sooner rather than later.

He is being watched closely and he just isnt scoring, but his assists are higher this season. I think the shoulder may have made him reluctant to use his shot

The next game is against the Flyers, and he got a trick against them last year, so maybe..

^ the flyers did beat the Islanders, something the Rangers have yet to do this season, so i'm not expecting a hat trick from him tomorrow personally.

Think it's a combination of things.

1. Shoulder probably isn't 100%.

2. Point #1 probably isn't helped by the icetime he is getting or the attention paid to him because of this team's lack of scoring.

3. I think a lot of people were spoiled by Jagr's goal production last year. By nature, Jagr has always been more of a playmaker than pure goal scorer. He fits more comfortably into about that 40 goal range with 70 some odd assists. I

He does seem a bit off physically, so it may be the shoulder, and the flu,(and he played through it). On most nights, players shadow him so he hasn't had the time and space he needs to be creative. He'll work through it.

It's more than just his scoring. He's not getting nearly as many quality scoring chances as before, and his passes have not been as crisp as of late. It's kind of unsettling to watch to be honest.

Whatever it is, I hope he recovers soon.

Jagr avatar pic...

My thoughts on Jagr are well documented so I'll spare you guy's, but here's a pretty sweet pic for someone to use as an avatar.

I acknowleadge that I'm going to get alot of criticism for this, but here goes...

What do you guys think of trading Jagr? I'm talking about a deal that can get us a top prospect, a 2nd liner, and some picks. Maybe someone like Kessel, who is young (20?) and has the potential to become a great player. He'd also be a Rangers' marketers dream, because he's one of the highest touted American born players to date.

In a recent post, someone mentioned that John Buccigross stated that the Rangers were to good to get a draft pick, and to bad to win the cup. This would obviously change that a bit. Jagr is making just over 4mill a year, which is a once in a liftime bargain for a team. His departure could also open the doors for others to leave, as some-straka and nylander- were brought in to solely keep Jagr happy...not that I'd mind keeping them.

I know it's not going to happen, and I'm not even truly sure if Iwould actually make the move...but I also think it is something that the Rangers' organization should think about.

and not to mention that I personally have notice an increase of turnovers in both received passes (He is not picking up the puck well lately) and stick handling.
