I don't think this idea is even worth discussion.

Sudden Death overtime was by far my fave part of the whole playoff run. I worked for almost every game, and we used to watch the game on a scrambled 13" tv. The game that went into triple overtime, we closed the restaurant at normal time but instead of going home and catching the game at home me and mowzie both stayed at work to watch it on the tv cuz we didn't want to miss anything (and in a town this small i could get home in 2mins...no lie...) If it went to a shootout, it would take all that excitement away, i wouldn't be at work 2 hours after we close sitting infront of a scrambled little tv watching the game go into triple overtime. I'd be gone 10mins later. Waaaaaaaay less exciting.

I'd watch shootouts in overtime, but only cause that's how the winner is being decided. They could decide tie games with a round of rock-paper-scissors between the coaches or a coin flip, and i'd still watch just to see who wins.

I'd still think it was the worst idea in the history of sports though, just like the shootout in general.

It was Keith Jones and I'm pretty sure it was said in jest. Just to spark some controversy at the desk.

Doesn't seem to stop American's from loving extra inning baseball games and triple OT basketball games?

Cloned and PDO are on fire! Props to that guy on TSN just for sparking so many good jokes. He's like the George W. Bush of hockey.

Yup. The Devil's advocate routine is a staple of sports shows. I'm certain one guy speaks in favour of a bad idea just to allow an argument to occur. Television would be even more boring if everyone agreed on the easy questions.
