If Ryan hadn't been injured there is no doubt in my mind he'd be leading the league in goals, or pretty damn close to it.

Keep it up Oilers, don't let up.

Smyth starts it out with a bang. Assists to Lupul and Stoll

Smyth-Horc-Lupul-Smith-Hejda started the game.

Not a good first shift for the Czech line.

Good start by the Oilers for sure. They can't sit back though.

OK, I'm starting to think that reuniting the Smyth/Horcoff/Lupul line might not have been such a bad idea.

This is why Smyth deserves $5 million. Pivotal on both goals- pounced smartly on a rebound and made no mistake to open the scoring, and then drops it back to Horc for the wide open shot he wired.

Well that was a disaster of afirst shift for Nedved.

- couldn't clear the zone
- didn't stay with his man, and it almost caused a goal
- a giveaway at the blueline after trying to unload his garbage on Sykora (I think)

But Horc just scored, so all is forgiven for the time being.

YEAH HORCOFF!!

this could be kinda ugly, the stars played ot and a shoot-out last night, one time zone later than us. They finished the game around midnight our time last night.

A quick start by us and they could lay down, especially with all their injuries.

There's my boy Horc.

So..

The Oilers are up 1-0 early. Defensive zone faceoff. NEDVED, SYKORA, GREENE AND SMID ARE ALL ON THE ICE?

I know Pisani was on as well..

But if that's not absolute insanity, I don't know what is. Amazing that didn't end up in the back of our net or with a Grade A Dallas chance.

Sykora just not the brightest Christmas light so far. Dangerous play with and without the puck.

I've liked Nedved's hustle, and he was almost in position behind the Dallas net to set up a third goal when he fell.

If we can get that line going and keep Hemmer and Sykora together as well as Raffi and Stoll, we maybe onto something good!!!

Blaming that all that bad defensive zone coverage on Nedved is stupid.... blame all 5 players on the ice.
