Berard???

Now I know he is out for 3 more weeks... but do you think CBJ might be willing to give up on him for a player now. I would like the Oil to take a flyer on him... maybe for Tarnquist or Bergy... and a conditional pick. It would help THEM now and help us later. Your folks thoughts???

He could probably be had for a cheap price. I've said it before, Berard would be an immense help to this club. Even with one eye, there are few players in the game who see the ice as well as Berard and he's got blazing speed. And he can QB a PP.

I'd definitely be interested.

Why Jimmi?

It seems every time a proposal is pitched on this board that ISN'T for a legitimate superstar, the person who pitches it is greeted with a condescending response like this.

People are going to be mighty disappointed when Lowe DOESN'T bring home a Wade Redden or a Jay Bouwmeester. A player like Berard, IMO, is a realistic expectation — good, but very obtainable.

Let's be real here. There have been some good proposals here for players that would definitely help the team but are swiftly shot down because they aren't for star players.

Berard would be an upgrade to almost anyone we have. I'd look at him if I was Klowe.

I understand the idea of getting a guy who isn't a legit superstar, but I'm not a fan of his. I have a problem with a guy who has been CAUGHT taking steroids. I understand there are probably alot of other players who take them, but he was caught.

I also wonder about his attitude, he doesn't strike me as the kind of player who try to win at all costs. He strikes me as the kind of player who might be more worried about himself.

All that said, would he make this team better yes. I personally don't want to see him here, however making the team better is #1 in my mind.

Again I just don't like him.

Edit: As far as a non-star player that could help, Kalinin, Salei or Modry.

He is a UFA and for the price of $1.25M, I would definately look at it.

Problem is this is a higher risk gamble because of his injury problems. Don't know if CLB has interesrt in moving him.

CBJ might be hesitant for sure... when he is good he's great and he is young... but he is 29 and missed ALOT of hockey... would you not take a roster player for a potential roster player... it IS a gamble for the Oil... understood. Plus there is NO gauarantee he'll be back in ohio next year. he's the same situation as Brewer with greater upside.

Yeah because when I think "who could possibly help our poor defensive play" I think of Brian Berard and his career -1323329 rating.

Oh give me a break. Get off the soap box Jimmi, there's plenty of other reasons to not like Berard

I like the guys offence but goodnight last season he was a -29 in 44 games.

The season before that in 58 games he was a -24...

We already just added a -20 in Nedved to the team, not sure how many defensive liabilities we want to stack up on 1 team. Unless we want to turn into Atlanta from the last few years. Tons of goals at both ends.

The excuses of playing for a bad team only fly so far, those are flat out terrible. I don't know I suppose if you played him with very limited minutes at 5on5 and gave him mainly PP time it might be okay.

Berard would definately improve our powerplay, but I have my concerns about him helping out anywhere else.

Well the fact is man that we have more holes then just our defensive zone play, we need a PP QB, we needed a playmaking centre(although I'm not so sure we got it yesterday), and we need a defenseman that's a rock in his own end. I personally don't believe we'll get that all around great d-man, I obviously hope we can, but it's not like those kind of d-men get dealt all the time.

I am assuming adding these offensive minded players that we would have to play balls out and score a lot to even have a hope of not getting blown out on a regular basis.

Nice man, it's always good to comfortable. I would do that except for my studio is in a professional Building(the kind with a Dentist and such) and it's also a glass bubble.

I had an ex MD who would never where shoes at the station.

Once we get our Website going I'll pass it along.

Well I don't think a d-man to quarterback our PP is a priority. A priority is getting the damn puck out of our zone. The rest of it would be gravy.

AH well I can't do that during the week when everyone else is working Even I have _some_ standards. Still, it beats TV when I have to actually like... dress up and shave.
