There's no other way to describe it.

The kid's got a resume that could put most NHL'ers to shame.

I'm sure Anaheim, San Jose, Detroit, Dallas and Carolina would all agree.

Now we just need him to score in the shootout.

AMAZING.

JJ may be pretty much untouchable in the shootout, but I'd take Hemsky in regulation play, lol.

Gotta be clutch to score in a situation like that, and he rarely disappoints. Definition of clutch, in my books. But again, Hemsky brings a better game.

Not quite clutch enough though. Coulda sure used another one in the OT or the shootout. Not like they didn't have chances in OT.

why does this not suprise me, what more does Hemmer need to do ? I am thoroughly convinced that for Oilers fans to finally give him the credit he deserves he will need to get both assists on the goal he scores

Not taking anything away from Hemsky and what he did. Just saying.

I agree. How many times has he done that to other teams in dying minutes of a hockey game. He had me screaming like a little boy again tonight!!

Hemsky is extremely clutch and often does not get much credit for it. Thanks for making this thread PDO.

If it was not for Hemmer's clutch heroics late last season we may not make the playoffs and same goes for his goal to put the Red Wings out in the playoffs.

The kid just wants it, he wants that responsibility when the pressure is on to make it happen. Did you see him look up at the clock right after he scored he knew all too well what kind of time pressure he was under and was just hoping he beat the clock.

yeah hemsky comes to play (and makes plays) when it counts.... that is very impressive for a 23 year old .... i think that ending was the craziest thing ive ever seen in a hockey game... too bad we couldnt get the extra point in OT, but we didnt even deserve a point in this one so i suppose we should count our lucky stars

Relax a little. Breathe.

He has been better lately, I will give him that. Resume that could put most NHLers to shame???? Nah.

He is progressing and that is good. I am certainly not going to speak about him like I do Crosby and Ovechkin.

well seeing how no one has said he is crosby or ovechkin i don't know where that part comes out but guys are measured by clutch performances and yes he has done more in two years than a lot have done in their careers.

Careful. I posted something very similar just a week or two ago & was shot down by many for it!

The key in here is to be luke-warm to Hemmer.....even though he ****ing RULES!!!!!

His goal in game one of the SCF would have been the defining moment of the game and maybe the series had the injury to Roli not have happened.

Does anyone have a video clip of that goal?

You've described the ridiculous "anti-Hemsky" sentiment on these boards perfectly.
Perhaps if he stood on his head while playing goal.......while dangling & setting up like a legend & displaying that sick wrister he has, then people would be more taken by his talents???

He needs to get 216 points gr8. Duh...of course then he'll get dogged for not bothering to average 3 per game and not scoring 93 goals...or maybe it will be the speed at which he scores those goals.

For hacks, it's okay to try hard around here.

For producers, you've got to be perfect.

It's been like that for a long time around here.

Actually, he just needs to not be so shi##y so often. As I said earlier, he has been better lately. But, as we saw earlier in the year, Hemsky tends to treat giveaways like "Donuts" - as one particular coach has mentioned.

Hemsky stops the giveaways and continues to give effort without the puck and he will be well liked. Contempt for Hemksy is simply because he has deserved it.

As I said, he has been better lately.

Oh, so in other words, he needs to be perfect,
Now I understand. Geeez, my bad all along.

yep like I have been saying for some time some people here should just go buy Flames jerseys because it is clear they want to watch plumbers rather than skill

I just want to win as many hockey games as possible. If that comes from "plumbing", or from end to end rushes, I really couldnt care less. When the oilers win because of a nice play by hemsky, it gives me no more pleasure than if they win gritty and grind one out. The same can be said that it is no consolation to me if the team loses, but still hemsky has a hilight reel move. I just want wins, not "entertainment". "Skill" dosent always win the most hockey games, and that is important to remember.

That just about does it for the "rain on hemskys parade" portion of this post. Really though, congrats to him for a super nice finish on that last play in the third. I would have a tough time admitting that he hasnt brought me to my feet at rexall on more than a couple occasions.
