Bench Smith

Smith is horrible. He is on the ice for nearly every big goal against us, and they are always the same, he follows the other dman behind the net...imagine we have lost five or more games on this same play, you would think he would learn.

Uh..

There's no way you can seriously be saying this after the show Matt Green put on tonight?

And who do we play in place of Smith, Gilbert? We don't need another rookie in the lineup.

I'm not a Smith fan myself and I don't think very much of him but I have to agree with you here, Greene was awful tonight!

Lay blame where its due.

The only reason Smith cannot be benched is b/c our D is so pathetic.

We can't even afford to bench any of the useless guys back there.

Who was the missing defenseman on the 5th goal? Can't blame Greener nearly as much for that one inparticular.

Y'know I remember the season prior to last this same old Smith. I'm getting tired of Gator hacking at the puck. That's all he does is hack. No puck handling ability at all. Pronger covered up for him beautifully last year.

At some point in the near future Smith will be out the door, he can't play in our top 4. And he's likely a piece to bring in a better defenseman.

I thought Smith actually had a pretty good game tonight by his standards. There is no way he gets benched. I would like to see Roy called up though, and at least give him a chance.

You mean the season where he was 7-12-19 and +13?

Wow! Best post of the year! I couldn't agree more. His stick is too long, every time he does pass or shoot it it's a hack. His shots are always head high his passes are always 3 feet off the ice...he's brutal!

I love when people say that he blocks shots and plays tough and hard and that its not his job to be a puck mover. What!?!? He's a defenceman and as a defenceman it IS your job to move the puck effectively.

You're right he no longer has a place in our top 4.

Smith went to pinch, and when you commit, you might as well go all the way. Smyth was supposed to be covering the point on that play, and he never got back there.

And Greene gave up 2/3rds of the ice for Hagman to get the puck in the first place. Lot's of things went wrong on that goal.
