Poor Peaches

Even if Niko Kapanen does nothing all season, just getting Patrik Stefan off the team was worth it. Check out this great play from the Dallas/Edmonton game last night:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=P5eL4SEtu1c

Stefan skates alone to the empty net, misses, falls, turns the puck over, and the Oil score with 2 seconds left to send the game to OT.

Way to go, Peaches!

Is that Ray Ferraro speaking? Obviously not something you'd want to happen but hardly the most embarrasing thing to happen in the last 25 years of hockey. There were still four other skaters and a goalie on the ice.

Poor Stefan, he hasnt been playing badly this year; just hasnt been able to put the puck in the net. He was prbly really nervous and really just blew it. You have to feel for the guy.

Ray was pretty hard on him. Guess he has never been very impressed with Stefan.

I had a dream the other night that I put it in my own team's empty net trying to pass it back... I got booed out of the arena and demoted immediately. I feel for him.

He was right in the crease and the puck caught a rut and hopped over his blade just as he was going to tap it in. Lesson learned: Shoot it in the slot. If it hops there you can still whack it in.

I stayed up late to watch the end of two games last week--this one and the Fiesta Bowl. Those are probably the only two good choices I made all week.

I have really lost all respect for Ray Ferraro after hearing him rip Stefan to pieces after the play. What right did he have to go off like that? I think more than anything, this situation ends up looking bad on Ferraro much worse than Stefan for his complete lack of professionalism.

Off the top of my head, This is the third worst play I've seen.

Number two, Bruins against Wings sometime in early nineties. Delayed penalty coming up, Boston pulls goalie, puck deep in Wings end. Someone (Janney?) sends a hard (and bad) pass to Bourque on point, who shoots wide of it. Result: own goal.

Number one still, unchallenged, the Japanese own goal, home ice, in the Olympics... http://youtube.com/watch?v=qQu-QpLqXkY

Just thank your lucky stars Stefan is not still taking up roster space with the Thrashers! On the flipside, Ferraro showed zero class in his ripping Stefan like he did, the play spoke for itself without his stinging commentary.

Can't remember the shooter or goalie (might have been Salo) but a few years back in an allstar game, someone shot the puck from between the blue and red lines, hit the goalie in the head and bounced in. That one was bad.

No, that is another Olympic moment. Belarus eliminates Sweden in a huge upset with this goal http://youtube.com/watch?v=rzrwcUR8wTM

I was confused, I knew it was one of the two and erred towards the allstar game. Had the goalie though.
