Is this a fair trade proposal?

To Philly:
Ryder, Perezhogin, 1st pick and Kyle Chipchura

To Habs:
Simon Gagne and a 2nd

Just an idea...

Given the difficulties to get Simon Gagné to sign his latest contract, I think Philly would jump all over this. I don't feel Simon Gagné is a special player either, so I think it's fair (Philly point of view). However I think one of the 1st or Chip should be removed.

We don't have the cap space for such a deal, plus that is a lot for one player and Gagne is good, but never been a point per game kind of guy to deserve such a trade deal, do you know how many top notch players you could get in such a proposal like that.

Can I ask you a question, 3rd post and you're getting assaulted already but it's not just you.

Why do you people take the time and do effort of posting those trade proposals? I never NEVER understood the mindset.

It might be fair, but it doesn't really help Philly who already has a glut of 2nd-3rd-4th line centres and don't need Chipchura.
Also, our first will only be (at most) 10 spots higher than their 2nd, so it's really of little value in that proposal.
Ryder and Perezhogin might be tempting, but I don't see them pulling the trigger on it, given Ryder's lack of touch this season, and that Perezhogin is a ways away from being a true offensive player.

All up, probably fair, but not a good proposal for either team, frankly. Gagne doesn't fit on the Montreal roster.

Ryder and a 2nd for Gagne is good enough.

I'm assuming that Philly wants to get rid of Gagne, otherwise why would they offer him to the Habs. If he's not on the block, then it doesn't matter what we offer.

I would like to see Gagne's statistics when Forsberg isn't playing before making a trade for him

Ryder to anywhere, please, just get him to a team where the fans don't want to cruicify him after every game. Make no wonder it's so hard to get quality players to come to Montreal. Why do you think Shannahan thought it was better to go to New York? Didn't need the bull that's here!!

I find this is a better deaql for the Flyers but not by a huge load, still a big differential though.

We need a center who can set up his teammates, not a teammate who is only good when he is set up by a good center

He's not doing too bad without Forsberg this year, you know...

Gagne isn't much better than Ryder. Gags has got to be one of the most overrated players around.

The first offer seems very fair, even generous. Philly needs to go into rebuilding mode and that would speed things a lot for them.

But this would not make any sense from Habs point of view. Lose two roster players to add another winger, when we really are not short there. Also Gagne would instantly become our highest paid player, on a long term contract, which complicate resigning our UFA defencemen next summer, even If we had room to add 2 million now.
