Will one of Danis or Halak be in the NHL next year?

I was just wondering how many of you think Danis or Halak will be ready to be an NHL backup next year, or if the team will instead see neither are ready, resign Abby or another veteran backup, and keep Danis and Halak as the Hamilton Bulldogs goaltending combo again next year?

I think Halak will be Huet's back up next year. But one thing is sure though, they won't be both in Hamilton, because Price will be there for sure IMO.

The Bulldogs could easily have Price and Desjardins next year. Aebischer and Danis are UFA's so I wouldn't be surprised to see Halak as the backup.

If 1 of Halak or Danis move up the NHL it will be interesting also to see which one of Desjardins or Price moves up to the AHL backup. It is possable one of Aebischer or Danis could be gone I suppose.

Price, Danis, and Halak will battle for the back-up job and the best one in camp will get the spot.

Price will go to the AHL for seasoning, thats where all young goaltenders of his tallent should go, bringing him up early will not benifit him whatsoever at all. Look at alot of young goalies who are rushed into the NHL usually ends up as a disaster. Price showed alot at the WJC but hes got along way to go yet before he gets to the NHL.

Halak is proving his worth right now at the pro level hes the goalie we have who is closest to NHL duty. Untill Price pays his dues and puts up some numbers in the AHL he will play second fiddle to the guy who as single handedly turned around our minor league team this season.

I can't see Danis anywhere in the NHL unless it's with the Habs. Halak and Danis should battle for the backup job in camp. Price may be ready too of course, but I think the safe approach is to give him half a season in the minors first. Probably with Halak. Although I wouldn't rule out the possibility that the Habs cut Danis loose and go with a veteran backup to Huet again. It's pretty much wide open at this point.

Danis will be in the NHL as a backup with another team. He's UFA and I expect him to blow off the Habs since we've let him rot in Hamilton for so long.

Halak has one more year of being waiver exempt, so anything could happen. I don't know if Danis will be retained... There's definitely a chance that neither will make the NHL next year. Halak might cool off in the 2nd half, it's too early to tell. Both could be dangled as trade bait at the deadline.

Aebi won't be back, that's for sure. If Danis re-signs, it will be an open battle. If Danis isn't back, and it's Halak and Price, I could see us bringing in a vet at training camp just in case.

It's way too early to tell. One thing is for sure, Price should be in the AHL.

I get the impression he dreams of playing for the Habs, and really, if the Habs have a competition in training camp, that's actually as good a chance for him to make the NHL as anywhere in the league. Probably his *best* chance. I don't imagine there are any other NHL cities who are likely to sign him with the intention of handing him the backup job. He'll be in a competition at best wherever he goes, and Montreal is the place where his competitors are all waiver-exempt, where the staff and goalie coach knows him the best, and where he also could be the cheapest option if he takes the league minimum. Really, a 1-year 1-way deal for the league minimum, if the Habs offered that, well, that would be the best offer he'll get. And the Habs might just be able to tender it, given our likely upcoming cap problems. At the league min, Danis might not be a lot cheaper than Halak, but he'd be about half the price of Price. I can't see any other NHL team being a more attractive opportunity for Danis than Montreal (assuming the Habs don't sign a veteran backup, of course). His agent will undoubtedly recognise this.

Nope, there's plenty of time, though. I wouldn't be shocked if he gets signed if/when Tri-City are eliminated and then sent to Hamilton. Kind of like what they did with Chipchura last season.

Not sure that's even necessary. Halak and Danis are doing a fine job for the Bulldogs. I don't any reason to rush Price into pro hockey. He will be in Hamilton next year and Montreal the year after.

While I don't think we'll do it, it's always possible that Aebischer gets moved at the deadline, and then Halak/Danis gets called up.

Take a closer look at Fleurys stats, You will notice he was sent back to jr after a handful of games in which he was very inconsistant (mind you behind a team that was led in scoring by tarnstrom) and then played a whole season in the AHL durring the lockout before he made it to the big leauges.

Goalies who are great in jr rarely are subjected into NHL duty immdiately, like most players they are sent to the minors to ride the bus and grow there game.

Dan Blackburn is the prime example of a goaltender who had great potential in jr and at the wjc, CHL player of the year, but was rushed by NY into the lineup, and that turned out to be a disaster.

We have to show patience with your young prospects, especially in goaltending, there is no point rushing Price to the NHL level he will go to Hamilton and put up a couple seasons before he gets the call.

do you understand.... huh?

Huet
Halak

Price
Desjardins(Heino-Lindberg?)

Danis and Aebie let go.
