Battle of the western conference all star coaches. Lets hope that the west assistant can show the west head coach a thing or two!

We better show up tonight or this will be a quick and out for the Ducks.

Last time we faced them we had a ton of injuries and were on a western road trip. The tables are turned. Lets take it to them tonight. We won't be able to use the injuries excuse though if we can't take them.

We gotta lock Selanne down, get traffic to the net, and not underestimate their 3rd and 4th lines. Getzlaf and Perry have been great this year.

I expect us to play one of our best games of the season. There is no reason for us to have a let down. We are playing one of the best teams in the league, last time we played them we were embarrassed, and Vokoun is finally back in the lineup.

4-2 Preds.

Indeed, this game can easily go between a 7-6 game or a 2-1 game.

with vokoun's return, and not knowing whether he's really ready or not, rarely have i ever less known exactly what to expect to see going into a game..

but if vokoun can hold us close early, and plays halfway decent, i look for us to get after the ducks tonight... i fully expect the preds to be able to exploit their defensive replacements for a few odd man rushes, we simply have to get solid goaltending, avoid turning the puck over deep, and get good special team play to win this one in my mind heading in. simple stuff huh?

On Offence: the Preds have to win the offensive battles. They need to get a lot of shots on net and tire out the anaheim defence.

On Defence: The defence need to play strong tonight because we don't know how Volky is going to play. Volky needs to be solid between the pipes and steal some saves.

On the Powerplay: The Preds need to dump the puck on the net and chase it down, then they need to set up for a point shot with a tip in front.

On the Penalty Kill: Play the passive box and ice the puck when they get the chance.

The Preds staying out of the box is key. The Anaheim powerplay is just to good for them to be given a lot of chances at an easy goal. The Anaheim net has to be overloaded, crash the net and set up the shot in the slot. If Volky plays well and the D shouts down the superstars we will surely walk the road to victory.

The Predators have never scored more than 4 goals against Anaheim in a single game (in franchise history)... and never more than 3 goals against Anaheim here at home.

Currently it is 2-1 and the Preds are on the PP.

a very action-packed 1st period comes to a close!

Kariya with a goal & assist. Zidlicky & Erat with 2 assists each. Tootoo with a fighting major.

Nashville outshoots Anaheim 13-7 and leads 3-1 after 1 period...

Legwand's streak of being on the ice and no power plays being scored against the Preds is over.......

Penner with the deflection. Its 3-2

JP Dumont scores his 10th goal of the season on a hard slapper. Bryzgalov never saw it coming...

then Thornton and Hordichuk both get into a fight...

I would give the edge to Thornton on that one...

its 4-2 halfway through the 2nd period.

Vokoun displaying heavy rust....

its 4-3 thanks to Getzlaf...

Selanne could have scored 4 or 5 goals already if he wasn't just barely off. He's hit the pipe and barely shot wide numerous times.

Selanne finally burned Vokoun on a VERY stoppable shot...

its 4-4

Vokoun looks like crap tonight. And I'm a huge Vokoun fan.

Anaheim outshot the Preds 14-3 in the second period after Nashville outshot Anaheim 13-7 in the first period.

Its a 4-4 game after 2 periods and I'm not feeling good about this game. The fans here at the HOP are booing and not very pleased...
