Help Me Please!

Happy New Year Oiler fans from Phuket Thailand.

I would really appreciate your help with all the news in Oil Country. I'm stuck on slow and expensive hotel internet so can't read all the threads. I'd really appreciate your quick comments and updates in this thread. What's new? What's exciting?

How are the boys playing? Is Petr (Nedved) the Great or just average? What's this I'm reading about Pikkanen trade rumors?

Thank you in advance for any tidbits you can offer!

P.S. Thailand is incredible.

Cheap internet places are everywere.

Nedved has been good so far, check mate line has looked good, the oilers have points in all three games he has played.

Pitkannen are just rumours.

Roli was unreal last night, good to have him back.

We need to go on a winning streak, van is getting to far ahead of us.

Nedved's been so-so. He's put up points (1+1 in 3 games), but reports are he looks slow and is somewhat less than stellar offensively.

The oilers look bad, they are not playing very well. Poor defensive play.

Nedved has been better then Petersen so far. PK has been good but our PP has lacked, recently that is changing, both PK and PP.

Hope we can steal a win in san jose tomorrow night because the NW is getting away from us.

Stauffer said he talked to an Oiler staffer and there was no deal being talked about with Philly for Pitkanen.

Bottom line. Nedved >>>>> Peterson or JFJ. And for 300K, it is a no brainer to have him in the lineup.

JFJ maybe... Peterson, not so much.

And it's $600k.

Many thanks everyone for the quick updates. It is really appreciated that you took the time!

Graveyard, we have been in Bangkok, now in Kata Beach, and going to Phi Phi Island late next week. Found a new internet cafe so shouldn't be too bad accessing Oil Country updates.

Thanks again. Keep 'em coming, if inclined!

P.S. Love the Pikkanen speculation but not at the cost of Raffi and Lupul. Bundle prospects, pick, and one roster guy.

Yes he is alot better and more valuable then Petersen.

Petersen doesn't play physical and doesn't score, if it weren't for his defense he would be in the minors, where he should be.

Nedved>>Petersen.

get to koh phangan already and party!

Thailand rules ...although I was at Koh Phi Phi 2 months after the Tsunami and it was still ravaged like nothing I could have imagined. I hope they have picked the pieces back up and are living life fully again.

Yeah, $600k for Nedved's contract, but then you subtract the player's contract being sent down off the sal cap. JFJ = $600,000 salary, pro-rated is $300,000.

$600k - $300k = $300k

Party on Gar. Yep, off to drink many beers.

I've heard mixed reports about Koh Phi Phi. Hopefully, they have managed to get life back to normal. Had a cab driver yesterday who lost his brother in the Tsunami. Really have to feel for these kind, wonderful people.

I noticed the Oil got a big win tonight in San Jose. Should be a huge game for them to gain momentum and confidence!

I've only got to see Nedved once myself, and that was live against the Nucks (only the 2nd NHL game I've ever been too[the other was Oilers at Nucks as well-2-2 tie final], I think I was the loudest fan in the whole stadium, lots of funny stories to tell friends, but won't get into that here), and he looked good.

He was following the play guidelines well, and he looked to be a player offensivley 'smart' enough to be with Hemsky. For Hemsky to be at his most effective, he needs guy's that find the lane without the puck, and although I didn't feel Nedved was quite comfortable with the new system entirely, you could see he was a nice piece to this team. Overall he looked solid, was quick to the puck when on offense, and played smart in our own zone. I don't think we could've asked for more at that point. Give him another 5-10 games and I do honestly believe he'll be a nice addtion.

Didn't you hear the news? Pitkanen was dealt for Stoll. One for one. Crazy eh? This just happened! No, kidding of course, I'd hate to lose Stoll, even if it was for Pitkanen... there's lots of names being tossed around for dmen fixes right now, I'm sure Lowe has been in touch for many defensmen around the league, Pitkanen is probably just the only one that leaked. I think Boynton may come at a discount price, and I do believe he'd be a perfect fit and get his game back together here. Not a PP QB, but can play at least 2nd unit PP and not look out of place.

I've got to give kudos to the team personally for fighting together with the injuries and flu. Shows a lot of heart, which we were all aware the Oilers have plenty of, even without Moreau.

Oh, and my fortune teller told me the Oilers would win the division, and win the Cup. The only thing about that though, is my fortune teller is me, and it's likely more just wishful thinking. I'm so powerful sometimes in my physcic powers that I can trick even myself with wishful thinking... or maybe a Sorcerer and I can just make it happen... Probably not...

Hope to make it there myself next year, I expect a full game report on your travels when you return. Hope it's been a good one. Enjoy.
