I hope Gilbert gets in for Roy. Roy has been better, though has still made some ugly and costly mistakes, but I think Gilbert deserves a shot too. He brings more of what Roy does, but with better skating.

I suppose...

Yikes, 3 rookies.
how can anyone blame MacT with our record with this defense? Yikes, 3 rookies indeed.

Losing Tarnqvist right now is a huge blow for the team.... I really hope he isnt out for too long, because matt greene playing instead of him makes our team worse.

I wonder if Gilbert will get into a game. Roy has the luxury right now of having played a few games to get somewhat comfortable with the system, so mac-t might not want to mess with that, and take a chance on gilbert.

I'm sure they expect Tjarnqvist out for a few games at least. I think Greene will draw back in against the Sharks and agree that if anyone sits it will be Roy. Gilbert will get some of Tjarnqvist's ice time.

I like Smith-Hejda, Staios-Gilbert, Greene-Bergeron.

That game in San Jose could be downright ugly.

Hejda - Smith
Greene - Staios
Gilbert - Bergeron

The saving grace? San Jose has been terrible at scoring goals at 5 on 5 this year - a measly 42 puts them at 24th in the league. The key to that game will be penalties and which Matt Greene shows up.

I agree... living out of the province I didn't get to see Gilbert in the preseason but by most accounts he was real solid back there. It can't hurt to give him a shot, especially with Tjarnqvist out.

Good for Gilbert, I've never seen him play but I've only heard good and the stats back it up. I hope he gets in for a game.

Has there been any official word that Tjarnqvist is out? I find it strange that he was on the ice for Hejda's goal and yet he is on his way back to Edmonton today.

Hmm...

Tjarnqvist suddenly flying back to Edmonton.

Pitkanen not playing tonight because of the "flu".

I SMELL A DEAL!!

(Of course I don't, but damn if it isn't hilarious thinking about it)

He looks like he could really be something, he has a ton of tools. How he reacts to the NHL game would be the only thing left to wonder about I'd think.

Post 1998 -> I agree!! He really looked poised and EXTREMELY mobile! He had a few hiccups but what rookie not named Ladislav doesn't? I wouldn't mind letting him keep playing, he definitely deserves another game or 10 haha.
