Wild @ Oilers -- December 3rd

The oilers will host the wild and try to snap a 5 game winless skid...Anyone know if Brewer is back?

I think it's doubtful and Conklin will start according to sportsnet.

I demand entertainment!

The last two games have been downright FUGLY and boring and way below our level of play. Hopefully someone in the dressing room spoke up and took care of business there, and we'll be a prepared bunch come tomorrow night.

Failing entertainment..........JUST WIN.

That is all.

Very true...............but I don't take alot of comfort in that.

It's gotta change some time.

The Wild will be hungry.

All I know is Hemsky is gonna score a goal off a sweet pass from Oates, and Oates is going to have two of something.. Either 2 goals, 2 assists, or two points. I had a dream about this.

Like the Proline commercial...

"Oilers to win...there it is...Oilers win...ugly, dirty, whatever..."

Close game. I like 4-2 Edmonton. Smyth, Moreau, Laraque and Torres score for the Oilers. The Wild are credited with two goals on two separate occasions when they try dump-ins and the puck bounces off Tommy Salo, who's on the bench, and into the Oilers net.

Semenov hits somebody. I mean, REALLY hits somebody. You heard it here. My guess is Zholtok.

3 of 4 Oiler goals come as a result of won draws in the o-zone. All of the Oiler goals are garbage goals, excepting the Torres EN goal.

I was going to watch this game, but I can't justify paying for the Wild.

Go Rod, or go home.

just win...please?

Plain and simple this game is absolutely HUGE! I wonder if MacT will actually do something with that joke of a line that is Moreau-Smyth-Pisani. I mean clearly it isn't working - oh sure they are working hard- those three all have excellent work ethic - and sure they're doing some good things to try and score, but really that line doesn't make sense. If they had to be labelled they all would be considered finishers - and I don't think that makes sense to have three of them together. Also, I think Perhaps they should put Raffi back on the fourth line to relief some pressure from him - I said this earlier that he shouldn't be placed in a position where he's expected and needed to score because eventually he will slow. I think if somebody would have came to us a month before the season and would have told us that he'd finish with 12 or 13 or even 14 we'd be happy, but to put him in a place where anything less then a 20 goal season is less then satisfactory is a bad idea IMO.

keep Raffi on the second he's won't regress imo as he's not doing the bulk of the work, Dvorak and York are doing that two players who are good at creating and ok at finishing so that'll only help Torres in understanding a good all round game. that Smyth line I would expect to be broken up this game and replaced with Horcoff until Reasoner gets fit.

Here's to a win, i'd love the irony if the Wild play a good entertaining game coz their on ppv

oh yeah no more PK or PP problems for at least ONE period.

Obvioiusly i think the oilers will win, i think that every game, and i also think smyth will get a goal every game.

4-1 Oilers
York, Torres, Smyth, Hemsky

Is salo starting?

Nevermind, i just read that salo will get a chance to start either sat against the pens or tues against the canes. Go conklin!!

The Wild are going to do their best to skate to a 0-0 tie, allowing only 20 shots while taking only 2, with over 50 minutes of the game played between the blue lines.
It's part of the top secret plan to drive you all insane. We all hate you, and will do whatever possible to twist the knife.

(Kidding of course)

Both teams seem to be struggling. Could be the makings of a pretty lopsided game, or a pretty violent one.

And apparently Oates skated btw Hemmer and Chimera again, and Izzy and Brewer aren't playing still. So the lines will look like:

Chimera Oates Hemsky
Torres York Dvorak
Moreau Smyth Pisani
Stoll Horcoff Laraque

The Sun today was writing about how Pisani and Smyth are struggling to find goals....hmmm, I wonder why...oh, that's right, you're on a checking line, you're supposed to be shutting down the other team's offense.

I think the team is suffering from an identity crisis. If I'm not mistaken, the first line is the primary scoring line, the second is the secondary scoring line, the third is a checking line, and the fourth is an energy line. I just don't get why our best forward is playing on the checking line with two defensive players...so do they want them to score? or do they want them to defend against the other team's top line? I think one of the reasons the Oilers are struggling recently is because no one really knows their role on the team. Is Torres a disturber or a scorer? Is Isbister a 2nd line power forward or a 4th line plugger? Is Chimera a 4th line energy player or a top line winger with Oates? The MacT blender has been puree'ing the team so much that I don't think the players know what their roles are anymore.

It's not as if he PMS line isn't doing a good job. They have done well defensively, and have generated some very good chances.

As of right now, Smyth is one of the Oilers top face-off guys, and that is insanely important where you are the checking line.

That line has generated a lot of good chances over the past few games. It isn't like they sit back and only play defence.

Torres has been on the second line for a while now (and has been double shifted as well). And why exactly can't Torres be both? If the puck isn't going in for him, shouldn't he be responsible for adding another dimension?

Quote:
Is Isbister a 2nd line power forward or a 4th line plugger?
Isbister has been hurt quite frequently, and when he is playing well, he gets rewarded accordingly.

Quote:
Is Chimera a 4th line energy player or a top line winger with Oates?
Chimera turned his game around (from his dreadful start). He has some pretty good tools to be a solid power forward, so why not pair him with players who will enhance his strengths?

You don't give players very much credit do you? So players are too stupid to figure out what they are supposed to do on the ice? Come on now, I know they are athletes, but cut them a little slack.
