The most undeserving all star is Cheechoo

For those trashing Luongo being voted on, Cheechoo is a far worse selection.

Discuss.

You release that every all-star game must, by definition, have a "most undeserving" player, right?

Ehhh...Luongo's almost as bad as Cheechoo.

But yes, Cheechoo is the worst selection.

I'd say Luongo is more deserving than Sakic this year

Reasons for Cheech

Although, I agree Cheechoo's stats for the first half this season don't qualify him as an All-Star.

I believe people voted for him for three reasons: 1) There was no All-Star game last season, 2) He finished an amazing second half of last season, 3) His hard work ethic/underdog image resonates well with the fans. Even though his numbers aren't high, I still love watching him play.

I'm not saying its right (This coming from a Sharks fan), but I understand why people voted for. Unlike Rory, Cheechoo is not some random name out of a hat.

Cheechoo is not even very explosive and fun to watch. I'd rather see guys like Hemsky.

Look, Cheechoo is a great player, and I believe he will do better the 2nd half of the season, but he is still the most undeserving all star, because he gets to START. I don't think people would mind if he was just "in" but the thing is he gets to START, which is complete BS.

But, what can you do. At the end of the day Daniel Briere also gets to start, which is even more underserving.

At least Rory voters were aware that Rory wasn't an All-Star. Cheechoo being voted in when he has been demoted to the third line in SJ at times really grinds my gears. Please for the love of god stop the fan voting and let the experts pick the teams. I'd suggest letting sports writers decide but baseball's HOF debacle has displayed the folly in that method.

Not much to do with hockey... But are you talking about Bert Byleven?

OT but I was referencing the Mark McGuire controversy and the fact that 6-8 of the polled writers did not select Ripken and Gwynn for entrance to the hall of fame.

No he's not, Luongo has actually played very well this year, maybe he shouldn't be the starter but he is still worthy of making the team?

People trash the vote for rory thing, where is the outrage over voting Cheechoo in when he's clearly having a down year?

Ovechkin and Briere on the first line

can you say setMode L o L ?

Crosby will have to separate them for not checking each other from behind and spearing each other in the jewels

Well, it was a shame there was someone who didn't voted for Gywnn, and Ripken too, for a certain extent. The real shame is about Bert Byleven being left out. There are a lot of articles about this, pretty much everywhere on the web, just google it.

And McGuire... Seriously, I don't know. He's the one that brought people back in the stadiums, and we didn't knew about guys using illegal products before him.

And if both Sutton and Gaylord Perry are in the HOF...

It's only fair since there was no all star game last season.

Wow is all I have to say, can you tell me one thing how is a guy who in the top 15 in league scoring is more underserving than a guy who has 22 pointes less than him.

It is very easy to argue that Briere is very undeserving of the starter spot in the East as well. Don't get me wrong he is all-star calibre but ahead of Hossa, St. Louis, Jagr and Heatley?

I think he should be on the team, but not a starter, just my opinion though.

It is ridiculous. But all it will do is urge the NHL even further to have writers and such vote on all-star teams... so maybe it's a blessing.

The game is a joke anyway. Some ducks fans are just bitter that Cheech ripped your team a new one last year.

Oh well. These "All-Star" selections are meaningless in the end. Its the official first and second teams that are picked at the end of the season that really count IMO
