Would you take Forsberg?

Okay, lets assume that the Flyers are willing to trade Forsberg, and Foppa is open to being dealt to a playoff team.

Knowing that the only way your team will aquire Forsberg is by dealing quality draft picks and prospects, would you take the risk? Keep in mind that he'll have to play around 25-ish games before the playoffs even start...

I would take the risk if we were in the playoffs.

He would have to pass a physical obviously.

Yes. But not at anny price and any picks would be conditional.

Forsberg will be a burden for the Flyers seeing as no team will want him. His constant injuries have become legend, and he isnt getting any younger with age. Or cheaper.

I'd take the risk for something like a 1st rounder, second-tier prospect, and a conditional 2nd or 3rd.

No, at the logical price that the Flyers would want from the Canucks, I wouldn't want Forsberg, just has to many problems with his health.

I'd look at all other available options first.

It's a weak draft. If my team was in a position where they'd be drafting 25-30, I'd have no problem parting with the pick, and an average prospect.

Wow, after reading some of these posts, I guess the Flyers should do themselves a favor and unload Forsberg...quick.

I'd take him for the way he performs in the playoffs alone.

He's just sucking up their money. As you can tell by their placing, he's not doing anything for his team.

I should point out that the Philadelphia Flyers have not yet won a game when Forsberg isn't dressed. Making matters worse, he hasn't been able to stay healthy for any length of time longer than a week; as a captain, you need to be more reliable.

On any other team, burying him in depth for the playoffs will pay off for both parties.

I really think it's time for Foppa to stop. This way he destroy his body totally. There is no life after hockey if he continues...

If i'm trying to win a Cup, absolutely(obviously the deal has to be fair though). I'd just tell him to rest until playoffs(you guys remember the 02 playoffs???). When healthy, the guy is still one of the best players in the world - add on the fact that he's been great in the playoffs. Obviously it's a risk but it's a risk i'm willing to take, because if(big word if) he could stay healthy, he adds a-whole-nother dimension to your team.

Forsberg?

Anyday

This is the only way that us HABS can hope of getting him...Philly not doing well, Forsberg's value decreasing (not 'cause of his play BUT 'cause of injury after injury...), this is why Philly may perhaps unload (injury prone) Forsberg.

FORSBERG as a Hab:
Huuuuuge risk (only 'cause of his oh-so many injuries!).
Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge payoff!! (if he remains healthy Forsberg can still dominate like the viking that he is!!).

I'd try to get him as long as Philly would not be asking for way too much...we have to remember...Forsberg will be a Hab for only (approx.) 25 games + playoffs. That could be enough to go very, very far in playoffs!! And the depth (prospects) this year is not the best so we can lose a first rounder (I'd rather not, but...).

Only worry (besides injuries):
Will Koivu (Finland) be ok with Forsberg (Sweden) on the team?!!?!!, knowing that they have a long history of rivalry between their countries!!

If he gets traded the team that gets him and the fans will love him for the playoffs. If I were the coach I just wouldnt play him all that much before the playoffs. Next years draft is supposedly weak so why not take a chance?

Any GM would be a fool to pass up the chance. Picks are all well and good, the future is all well and good. But the Stanley Cup is the promised land you may never reach. Forsberg absolutly brings any team closer to the Cup. Any team that conciders themself a contender should persue him. Lets face it, someone will and any team adding Forsberg becomes better. Do you want better opponents in the playoffs? No. You want the cup.

Does Carolina regret giving up Berglund for a couple months of Doug Weight? No. Do the Rangers regret giving up a young Amonte for Matteau and Noonan? No. Do the Lightning regret giving up Pitkanen for Fedotenko? No. Winners don't have regrets. And Forsberg will increase any teams chance of being a winner.
