Owning San Jose since game three

Ever since Raffi Torres scored with 6:47 remaining in game three of the 2006 Western Conference semi-final, the Oilers have absolutely owned the San Jose Sharks, winning all six games and outscoring them 25-12.

2006
G3 vs. SJ: Won 3-2 (OT)
G4 vs. SJ: Won 6-3
G5 @ SJ: Won 6-3
G6 vs. SJ: Won 2-0

RS vs. SJ: Won 6-4

2007

RS @ SJ: Won 3-2

Even though we won tonight, by no means did we dominate. We got outplayed tonight and relied on good zone coverage and Rolie. We need to get better if we expect to beat them in the playoffs again.

Way to jinx it!

Wouldn't it be awesome to be someone's Dallas, though? Just that one team they can't seem to beat? Ahhh, one can dream.

Dude I almost had a heart attack trying to wait out the third last night. I don't want us to do that too many times. We need to get better on the back end.

Up until last year Minnesota was our *****.

And for about 5 years, we owned Anaheim (though we've lost twice to them this year).

...and after each of those six wins, Sharks fans have blamed the officiating.

I would agree with that after the midway point last night but they caught us up by the end of the game.

I don't believe anyone blamed the officials for the 6-4 loss. That was just a choke by the Sharks.

The Sharks lost the playoff series due to a lack of cojones and Oiler cheapshots.
The cheapshots can be blamed on the refs because they would have been curtailed if the refs had called the playoff series properly.

I remember that game nobody blamed them because we had 2x more penaltys than you guys did.

Yikes!

The only cheap shot I remember was when Radek Dvorak was run into the boards from behind by a Shark and injured in game 1. The Sharks tried to set a physical tone in the first two games but got beat up in the end. Blame Wilson for flawed tactics and underestimating the Oilers toughness, not the referees.

I got to add that the Torres goal and Rolosons sick glove in O.T saved that series and our playoff run. Can't forgot Horc's goal either.

It's one thing to offer analysis of the Oilers winning streak against the Sharks and quite another to brag about it and be sore winners. Then again, where did all this 'winning' get Edmonton? 2nd place so it means nothing and will mean nothing in the end.

Weren't you the one who didn't know the NHL had eliminated the red line for two-line passes last season?

Similar to how he didn't know the hit Raffi Torres laid on Michalek was clean, and the only people who can't see that are the new Shark fans who wouldn't know a puck from a skate?

Dont worry, most oiler fans know last night was a stolen victory. Theres no domination happening here.

Except Torres' hit on Michalek should've been a roughing penalty. Playing the body doesn't mean hitting someone in the head. It's not just Shark fans that think that was cheap. The OLN broadcast team called it that at the time the hit was made.

Not really bothered by last night other than it being the standard hating to lose stuff. You had to figure that there's going to be a game or two that go against the Sharks in way of penalties considering their tear on the power play more than the Columbus mistake itself. It all evens out in the end.

Can you please provide a link to the NHL rule stating a hit to the head is a penalty? There's a difference between a play being "cheap" and it being a penalty.

I've seen the clip a million times and I still don't understand how Sharks fans can possibly think it should have been called a penalty (I love it even more when some state it should have been called an elbowing penalty! ).

It's a huge overstatement to say that we've owned them. In the 6-4 win, the Oilers caught fire in the 3rd period of a game they probably were outplayed in, and in last nights game, San Jose was owning the Oilers IMO. We were very fortunate Roloson was having a good night and San Jose kept missing open net shots.

Shoulder to head is roughing now?

He had his head down, he got rocked, live with it, and hope Michalek learned from it so it doesn't happen again.
