Florida comes out and dominates play despite taking a few early penalties. Carolina gets the edge in powerplay time, but Florida outshoots Carolina 31-14 in the first two periods. Cam Ward gives up 3 goals on those 31 shots. 3-0 Florida after two periods. Many, myself included, gave up on any chance to tie this game the way the Hurricanes were playing.
Here is how the 3rd period has turned out so far. Cam Ward was pulled and replaced with John Grahame.

Five unanswered third period goals. 3:30 remaining and Carolina with a 5-3 lead.
6 goals in a period is the Carolina franchise record for goals scored in a period. There haven't been many games like this this NHL year or any other. It was a pretty special comeback.
I think it was thread worthy, else I wouldn't have created one. Heh. Just excited.

Kaiton said it just ties the record which was set back in the days of the whalers. I dunno for sure though.
I was looking at the score on nhl.com since I have staal, whitney and stillman on my fantasy squad...was suprised to see the score change so fast...and to add on staal no points??cmon!
Florida just plain blows, no other way to explain this.
I wouldn't go that far. They dominated the game for the first two periods. They simply came out expecting Carolina to be as flat as they were the first two periods in the final frame and when Carolina came out hot, Auld let in a bad one and it collapsed on him. They're not a bad team, they just have trouble wrapping games up in the 3rd period.

Actually, the Blue Jackets came back from 0-3 in the third against the Ducks this year
Oh, I know that teams come back from three goals down all the time. Buffalo has probably done it about four or five times this year alone, but rarely do teams come back from being so totally outplayed. 31 to 14 in shots after two periods. 3 goals down. Pulled goaltender.
Then the other team scores 6 goals in the final stanza. It's just ...an oddity.
I was a little surprised when I saw the score after the Bolts game. Good job 'Canes.
I was a little elated with the breathing room away from the Capitals. Tampa Bay is really coming on strong. I have a feeling i'm not going to be enjoying Tampa wins in the conference much longer.

But they blows! I mean... MTL-PHI, MTL gets outshot by 10+, yet win 4-2, and Nittymaki was solid. Why? Because Philly are a bad team. (more precisely, an overall average forward corps and horrible defense corps : (Average + Horrible) / 2 = Bad.
BTW, my comment wasn't derogatory towards Philly. They're in a bad funk and needs to have a whole team adapted to Nu-NHL. They're gonna go upwards sooner than later (as in, starting next year)
LaRose got first star on nhl.com! As far as I know that's the first time he's got any star. He's also now hit double digits in points! Congrats Chaddy!

Yes we do, but, they also lost Nieuwy and Bertuzzi, Weiss, Kolnik, And Roberts have been injured from time to time, and now they lost Mezei. Some tough guys to lose. They should be able to play better, there's no excuse for that crappy meltdown, but it doesn't help having those kind of guys injured.
Auld looked great a few games this season, and has looked horrible of late.
