Nope. no Jags. at least hell rest, but thats ridicuous.

This is because 14 Sabres got voted in by the fans.

Shanny is the lone rep. of the Rangers.

I am pretty happy actually. Its too bad Shanahan has to go because I'd want all of our guys to get as much rest as possible. Why can't we send Hollweg?

Seriously though like the NY Post reported a few weeks ago, Jagr needs to work on his shoulder over the break, so hopefully this will allow him to work on his game and come out really strong as we go into the final stretch.

It's amusing to me how much the league likes to neglect their biggest markets (mostly in other ways than this, but this is funny as well). No Jagr, no Sundin. They should really call this the Currently Good Players game.

At least that stupid Rory Fitzpatrick thing failed.

Actually I wish it hadnt failed because it would have shown how much of a joke this "All-Star" game is.

Yeah, leaving Jagr out is pretty darn stupid. Taking two Hurricanes, either of which is inferior to Jagr, is absurd.

I'm fine with him resting too, though it is irritating that his contributions this season have not been recognized. How do you not vote in the league's third leading scorer? Kind of a slap in the face if you ask me, though I won't try to speak for Jagr.

Actually, this looks like it was Jagr's decision:

Quote:
Jagr, the New York Rangers captain, won't be making the trip, despite being tied for fifth in the league with 58 points entering play Saturday. The nine-time All-Star has been slow to regain strength in his left shoulder following offseason surgery, and will instead use the week off to rehab, and rest an aching hip.

This is not such a bad thing that Jags will sit. He needs the rest. Hopefully the team will take advantage of this break and come out strong to finish the season and enter the playoffs.

I agree the game is a meaningless affair. Back in the old days, the All Star Game consisted of the former Cup Champs vs the best players from the remaining teams. Now THAT would be great to watch

there is a HUGE banner in front of MSG, on 7th Ave which is from the POV of a goalie, showing Jagr about to shoot (and presumably score). It says, "its a bad day to be a goalie" and is advertising the NHL All-Star Game on Versus..

nice.. he's not even in it..

You would think that maybe the Rangers requested Jagr not participate this year due to his shoulder and groin. I could see that being the case, otherwise it's just plain stupid that he didn't make it.

I'm happy though that he isn't going, I wish Shanny wasn't going either. He could use the rest.

This game means nothing to me and I hardly ever watch it. He can rest and other than Shanny there's no chance of any of our players getting hurt--and hopefully he uses at motivation and plays better afterwards.
