Who is your favorite current player never to play for the Rangers?
We all have em, players we cheer for, despite never wearing Ranger blue. So who is yours?
remember, current players, not retired ones.
Although he came close, my choice is Joe Sakic. Plays the game as it should be, plays both ways, a leader, a winner, and my current favorite non Ranger.
My choice before this year woulda been Brendan Shanahan, but of course, he is no longer applicable

I have one for each position.
At centre. Brad Richards, very underrated and performs well under pressure. If we deal Prucha, Richards is someone who id want.
at RW Ovechkin too bad we wont get him till he is 32
at LW Morrow, he has grit, skill and still in his prime, too bad we dont have a player like that on the Rangers.
at D I pick 2 players, Dion Phaneauf, he is physical and can score as well. And the other dman Anton Volchenkov, he is young and physical and would help our defense. Too bad we wont get him.
I was always a big Forsberg fan when he was playing in Colorado so I would have to say him. I also always wanted Brodeur to play for the Rangers, not just because he is an outstanding goalie but also so the Rangers didnt have to play against him lol. Out of the newer guys to come into the NHL I would have to say that I would LOVE to see Ovechkin in a Rangers sweater, but that would probably only happen if he is 45 years old and skating with only one leg, then he would be ideal for our team...
Chris Chelios-first saw him in the 1984 Olympics in Sarajevo with Pat LaFontaine and Ed Olczyk.Love Chelios.Tough.Nasty.A horse.Could play 30 minutes a game without breaking a sweat
My favorite players are for the most part the ones who pull you out of your seats. Let's put aside the obvious ones like Crosby, Ovechkin, Kovalchuk etc.
Other faves are:
Patrice Bergeron
Spezza
Pitkanen
Andrew Ladd
Bouwmeester
Kovalev
Havlat
Nash
Getzlaf
and of course, Hasek.
The luckiest fans are the ones in Pitt who are watching young versions of Crosby, Malkin, Staal and Whitney. Then again, I do get to see Adam Hall.
Spezza, I guess. I don't really go out of my way to watch him, I just like his offensive game. Big Joe as well, it looks like another 90 assist season for him.

Ditto, largely for the same reason! Watching him play this season is a real pleasure, whether you were a fan before or not, though.
Plus Saku Koivu, because he was a star for TPS before playing for my second favourite NHL team.
Honourable mention goes to Joe Sakic, JR (I know lots of people hate him, but I loved his combination of skill and desire), Forsberg and Brenden Morrow. I should also add Jari Kurri, because his days on the Rangers shouldn't count.
