No kidding. Do fans in this town simply have to have a player to run out of town every year? Not that it's gotten that far with Lupul.... yet...

he doesn't try out there...he keeps bringing up anaheim in his interviews...he looks really clueless with those massive cow eyes...he's too weak on the puck...he can't play defense...he doesn't hit...he's totally useless right now...

BUT...he's young...so i'm willing to cut him some slack...

for now...

Yep he just friggin' floats. I got zero respect for that.
He's no Oiler.

Show me some heart.
Show me some intensity.
Show me some willingness to take a hit on the boards to win a puck or two.
Show me some grit.

Shoot...show me SOMETHING that lets me know you got some ticker in ya......that ya wanna do something to HELP this team succeed.

(Bergy must be lovin' Lupul right about now! LOL!)

You people expect way too much from some of these Oilers.

What do you expect from Lupul? A 50 goal, defensive specialist, hitting machine? Come on people, get real. The guy is only 23 years old. He's still learning to play the system here and he's still finding ways to deal with the constant pressure from playing in his hometown. Yes, he should probably be doing better than he is but he's been improving as the season goes along.

Lupul is 7th in team scoring, which should be about right since he was mostly playing on the 3rd line for most of the season.

Lupul is 4th in forwards on the team in hits, so I don't know why so many of you say he's not hitting or can't take a hit or isn't trying.

Lupul is 4th in shooting percentage which isn't that bad considering where/who he was playing with for a good chunk of the season.

Like I said earlier, it would be nice to see the guy doing better than he is but it's not like he's terrible. Give the guy some time. He'll come around.

I don't know about anyone else, but I expect EFFORT. 100% uncompromising effort. Nothing more, nothing less. He just doesn't offer that. He's a floater. He's like Torress when Raffi decides he's going on one of his 10-20 game "I'm disinterested right now" spells.

There's not many on this current Oiler roster that are offereing that 100% totally committed effort in any given game, but Lupul is certainly one of the worst when it comes to that.

gotta agree with hemmer. lupul's still learning macblender's system and he's not given a chance to create any chemistry with anyone. he's been in the ducks system for 4 (i think) seasons and now he's getting adjusted to this one.
the kid needs a little more time and he'll be fine. come next season, he should be close to what people expect of him: 30ish goals and 60-70 points.

The system he's apparently still "trying" to learn and/or any apparent lack of chemistry he has with his teamates has absolutely nothing to do with his distinct lack of effort most every night.

I don't doubt his skill set as a one-shot scorer (although I'd love to see a little more in the results department in that regard) & I don't doubt that in a year or two those skills may be more refined with better numbers as a result, but as has been pointed out, he brings very little to the table in terms of creating chances for himself or others (if you believe that's not his bag & never was, then fine).

He brings even less to the table in terms of effort, & that is my beef with Lupul.

For everyone who says Oiler fans expect too much from Lupul, all I expect is heart.

Horcoff is having a statisically poor season, but I still love the guy. Why? Because he cares.

Lupul just isn't there. He's an empty uniform. For that, he gets no respect.

Yep.
He looks to me like he's just going through the motions on any given night with very few exceptions.
The guy obviously has talent......you don't score almost 30 goals in your 2nd NHL season (plus 9 in 16 playoff games, including a 4 goal playoff game) unless you have talent....& quite a measure of it.

But that fact only serves to annoy me more.....imagine what the guy could do if he showed some ticker eh? With the natural talent this guy is blessed with, his distinct lack of anything resembling heart is a travesty.

Wake up to yourself Joffrey.

I am not using him as a scapegoat. Just stating the obvious. He has been awful. Brings absolutely, positively, nothing at all. Nothing. Please give me one reason not to think he has been a complete disappointment.

The previous poster who said he is an empty uniform hit it right on the head.

I like Lupul, but I agree that it doesn't look like he's trying.

I was watching highlights from the playoffs on NHL.com and decided to take a look at G6 of the Ducks/Flames series.

http://www.nhl.com/video/app?compone...sp=3&sp=SSaves

I know it was the postseason, but look at him move his feet, get the puck to Marchant (as opposed to carrying it over the blueline and having a defenseman simply poke it off his stick), and go straight to the net. Sadly, I haven't seen that type of drive from him once this season. =\
