Kobasew???

When is Chuck Kobasew back. I have heard nothing and I noticed that he is not playing again today against Nashville. He does not have a history of concussions so he must be back soon. Can you provide any info. Thanks.

As far as I know, it's a day-to-day type injury (according to Flames staff). I believe that's all the info that's been leaked so far.

TSN reported to day that Kobasew, who had been with the Flames on the current road trip, has returned to Calgary. So obviously he's not feeling well; if he's not even able to travel with the team, I'd say he's at least a couple of weeks away. Concussion recovery is very hard to predict though...some guys will have a relatively minor one, but it takes forever for them to start feeling better.

Rob Kerr was on the radio just now saying that Chuck is done for the season.

Peter Maher also commented on it this morning when he was on the radio with Mike Richards.

Nothing has been noted on any of the major sports news cites anywhere on the condition of Kobasew. I don't know how you seem to be in the know more than professionals that cover the sport for their living.

There is absolutely no way that one big hit is putting a guy out for a season... especially if it is an upper body hit!!! Anyways... i look forward to further updates.....

I agree. There's only two ways he'd be "out for the season"...one is if this was already known to be the severe-est of concussions, and it obviously isn't since he was travelling with the team. The other way would be if he'd had a series of setbacks, and was advised to simply rest for X number of months. Neither seems to be the case here. BenThatcher, I'm not saying you made this up, but if it's true, wouldn't it be in writing somewhere? Can anyone find it?

It's quite obvious from the Conroy trade today that Kobasew won't be back this season.

Why would the acquisition of Conroy, a center mean that Kobsaew, a winger, would be out for the year? Like I said in another post, Conroy wasn't brought back to carry the load. He's here to provide some tertiary scoring and help out more on the PK.

During the Chicago game Millions mentioned a couple of times that he was a healthy scratch...he called it a "Coach's decision".

Flame defenceman Robyn Regehr did not dress because of the flu while F Chuck Kobasew, who returned from a concussion on Friday against Minnesota, also did not dress...The Flames return home for a game against the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday. It's fan appreciation night at the 'Dome and the 50/50 is a guaranteed $50,000. The game kicks off a four-game homestand. The Flames are 19-5-0 at home....

Calgary Flames forward Chuck Kobasew will be sidelined four weeks with a fractured right elbow, while forward Darren McCarty has been diagnosed with a sports hernia and will be out indefinitely. - calgaryflames.com (1/30/07)

Yeah, I heard that on the radio as well. He's already been out a month, aside from the 1 game he saw, so this makes it 2months min. in total!

First of all, he is not necessarily out for the rest of the regular season, he is supposed to miss four weeks therefore he should be back sometime in early to mid March.

Second of all, your comment was still incredibly wrong considering his new injury is unrelated to the one you were previously commenting on.

Hey Rob,

I was wondering if you had any information on Kobasews injury? I've heard rumors that you've mentioned he's gone for the year.

thanks
