Hockeycentral Tonight

Anyone catch Hockeycentral after the flames game? That idiot Kypreous was saying that Lupul was available and that he doesn't fit in Edmonton long term. He also claimed he wasnt determined in Edmonton and he doesnt like playing there. The other guy claimed a guy on K Lowe's radar might be Aucoin who is on his way out in Chi town. Thoughts?

I dont agree on Lupol, but I would roll the dice on Aucoin if its just a salary dump by Chicago, I wouldnt trade away talent for him.

It's hard to argue with that statement.

As I'm sure everybody on here will say, I don't think Kypreos has a clue what he's talking about when it comes to Lupul. There's no way we would trade away a guy like Pronger for someone that doesn't factor into our team's future plans, especially when we had Pronger under contract for several more years anyway. I would be willing to take a chance on Aucoin, he's been a good d-man throughout his career, might help the power play a bit with his slapshot, the only questions is $$ and what it would take to get him.

That sounded like complete and utter speculation to me passed off as truth. Likewise, while Aucoin at $2 million would be awesome, we're near the bottom of the waiver chain given our acquisition of Nedved and I'm guessing a lot of other teams would jump at Aucoin for so cheap.

I have heard "trade Lupul" 1000 times on these boards....now that someone in the media says it could happen, everyone jumps all over him?

People have said about 1000 times that they'd trade Lupul, not that he's being offered around the league (like Kypreos said).

I think if it were available for the Oil to aquire Aucoin at a 2million entry level contract, I think I'd go for it.

We're way down the waiver wire after picking up Nedved unfortunately, I'm guessing a lot of teams would jump all over Aucoin at $2 million (which would be a great bargain if he can stay even remotely healthy).

What about just offering up a draft pick, or some "future considerations" in a trade for Aucoin? Rather than have him undoubtebly(sp?) picked up through the waiver wire by some other team.

I wouldn't mind trading Lupul, but it would have to be for a young gun ie Michalak (sp?), Pitkanen and Seabrook. I know he isnt worth any of them straight up, but i wudnt mind sweetning the deal wiht prospects and/or picks.

^This is true. Perhaps via trade wouldn't work so well either.. because the Oil would be stuck with his hulking 4mil contract.

But because it is already half way through the season, would Aucoins cap hit and money left on his contract be at 2 million anyway? Although, I believe he is signed for another two years at 4 million a piece.

Wake up blind Oiler faithful. Lupul sucks and it would not be such a bad move to turf him before he loses all his value.

Kyprios tells it like it is. I thought he was a moron at first, but he grew on me. He's honest, and the players respect him enough to give him inside scoops. If he said it, it's true.

Throw in Schremp and we should be able to land someone really, really good.

what do you watch out there ? seriously because I really question some of your comments, especially the Lupul sucks comment sorry I forgot that it is so easy to pot near 30 goals like he did last year. Then you top it off by saying Kypreous tells it like it is, really how many times last year did he boast about how the leafs were going to contened, or how about him calling his dive on Fuhr a hockey play, but that is right he tells it like it is. Finnally if Lupul sucks like you claim he does how is throwing a "unproven" prospect with him going to get something great.

read my posts. 9 times out of 10 they are correct. May not be what most Oiler fans WANT to hear, but I am correct nevertheless.

and remember, Shremp=Comrie.

Alright, so basically the Oilers just have to trade Lupul (who "sucks") and Schremp (who "= Comrie"), and they'll be able to get someone "really, really good" in return? Okay sir..

You're the one that needs to wake up, not us.

I'm guessing this was meant as a negative comment but I would be absolutely thrilled if Schremp can develop into a Comrie-like talent.

I'm also on board with Lupul being the most movable guy. Young, long term contract, has shown he can score. If he bring that right asset that has a good age I believe he's the most realistic option this team has to move. I was excited when we acquired him, but I honestly don't see him fitting into our system of play. He reminds of Anson Carter ......
