Murray's Line Combinations (when spezz/fish is back)

in murrey's words :

"I think what'll happen to begin with is that I'll just leave the lines the way they are right now," said Murray. "I'll probably put Fish and Spez together when they come back. Fish can play the wing as well as he plays centre. And I might even throw Vermette on the other side."

That leaves Chris Kelly between Heatley and Alfredsson and recently acquired Mike Comrie between Peter Schaefer and Chris Neil. Three pretty solid forward lines.

well i guess eaves is moved to the 4th line .. i rather see eaves instead of neil playin with comrie/scheafer ...

we can literally go with 10 different line combinations and they all can work pretty well ... i dont think murray is going to stick with 1 combination for more than 2 days

I will self-destruct if Neil is given the 3rd line RW spot over Eaves.

Not as good as what TSN has

Forwards
Heatley - Kelly - Alfredsson
Schaefer - Comrie - Neil
Vermette - McAmmond - Eaves
Hamel - Spezza - McGrattan
Defence
Redden - Meszaros
Volchenkov - Phillips
Corvo - Priessing
Schubert
Goaltender
Emery

Ya, there are dsome slight modifications I would make, but ultimately these are great looking lines. Pairing Spezza with the breakaway of Vermette and Fisher should make for a fun, dynamic line 2nd line. The fourth line is probably the best in hockey IMO.

Well I would love to see Schubert and Neil on the same line. How many hits a shift would they get? 5? 6?

And offensive talent like Comrie and Scheffer on the third line!!!!! That will lead to some big mismatches.

well it looks like someone who is better than a 4th line player will be on the 4th line...but we will be able to roll 4 lines no problem which leaves our players a lot fresher and creates all kinds of matchup problems for any team we play...so even the 4th line MAY see increaced ice time

agree

the first 2 lines can be comparable. but the 3rd line really isn't.

eaves is much better than neil. i mean, what the hell.

i do like the first line staying as is, and fish with spezza. happy with that to start

umm spezza is not getting demoted to 4th line

i think he might of played with those 2 guys, because the first 3 lines actually get ice time and need to practise together

spezza was just out there to skate , literally

spezza may be "demoted" to the 4th line, but only so that he
does not have to play more than 5 min a game until he gets more
comfortable in his return from injury.

The people who've said he's just practicing with Hamel and McGrattan are correct. That way he's back around the team again, but not affecting any chemistry on existing lines, since he's not ready to step in yet. TSN just lists the actual practice lines; Spezza won't be playing on the fourth line when he returns.

These are my lines from every thread about this in the last 2 weeks.

Bryan Murray should be paying me a consultancy fee.

I'm only wondering what time will be given to Comrie in third line? How will Murray split TOI between our players? It's looks like our all three lines are able to scores.

the moment the sens are behind by 2 goals Murray will reunite spez + heatley

Eaves - Spezza - Heatley
Vermette - Comrie - Alfie
Scheffer - Fisher - Neil

or something like that :-)

Lines once Spezza and Fisher come back

Ottawa coach Bryan Murray gave a pretty good hint about his lineup once Jason Spezza and Mike Fisher return from injury.

Murray doesn't want to tamper with recent success. "I think what'll happen to begin with is that I'll just leave the lines the way they are right now," said Murray. "I'll probably put Fish(er) and Spez(za) together when they come back. Fish can play the wing as well as he plays center. And I might even throw Vermette on the other side." That leaves Chris Kelly between Dany Heatley and Daniel Alfredsson, and Mike Comrie between Peter Schaefer and Chris Neil.

Any thoughts?

Well they are still successful. We'll see how things change when we have problems as kyle747 said.

You cant put Spezza on the 4th line, because if he is on it, it is no longer the 4th line. Its like a paradox.

Spezza is going to explode when he returns. Back and pissed about all those passing him in the standings. It wont matter much where he plays

i can just see it now:

(dean brown) : "Oh MY HEAVENS! Jason Spezza has literally EXPLODED near center ice!!! that reminds me of the time Roger Neilson and I gorged ourselves on Rocky Road Ice cream at a Baskin Robbins during a road trip in Toronto.
Roger got some on his tie and needless to say we laughed and laughed and laughed.
Speaking of laughing, its ironic that a guy like Spezza who loves to laugh exploded."

I'm assuming Eaves will play on Spezza's wing before Fisher comes back, since Spezza should be back before Fish, if only for a few games. If he puts McAmmond there, I will scream, and then the goat thread will explode with posts from yours truly. Eaves-Spezza-Vermette is interesting - I'm looking forward to seeing it.

I'd agree, but it sounds like they hope to get Fisher back at the same time as Spezza.
