Vazquez to the Yankees !

The Expos have just traded Vazquez for Nick Johnson, Juan Rivera and a third player to Montreal that is believed to be left-handed reliever Randy Choate to Montreal

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1678044

The next is Guerrero to the Orioles ???

I smile when I think of an Johnson - Vidro - Cabrera - ? infield.
I cry when I think he's an injury prone Yankee...

Guerrero is a UFA. he can sign for anybody. But I have a wild guess that he's gonna stay with the Expos (which are owned by the MLB, anyway) and keep some values for the team.

Johnson is no more injury prone than Vidro, Guerrero, etc... Having a broken hand doesn't mean you are fragile.

Excellent deal overall
. Expos got a much needed first baseman and a strong trowing right fielder that can replace Guerrero... in case

Not exactly the kind of uplifting news I wanted to hear today. Vazquez was always one of my favourites, and now to think he's going to be a friggin Yankee....... Once Guerrero leaves, I think I'll be trading in my Expos cap permanently for anything else.

I don't get why everyone is so down. I love this deal. Nick Johnson is perhaps the best young hitter in the game today. We just added another great bat into our unproductive lineup. Plus, we freed up some cash to along with it. Vazquez only plays well for half the season anyways.

Well, if it means more chances of inking "le Grand Vlad" then I'm all for it... If we can't sign Vladdy... now that's a blow.

Anyways, it's better than the Colon deal, eh!

Well said!!

And, btw, we MUST keep Guerrero!! The Expos won't survive without his key player... I'm pretty sure, I don't know why, that he'll stay with us.. LIke someone just said, the MLB would be pretty stupid to let Guerrero leave the team, cuz that would leave the Expos without any value almost... But we never know with Superstar Bud Selig.

This trade seriously ticks me off as a Yankee fan. To me Johnson should be untouchable. If I had to pick between him and Giambi I'd take Johnson every time, I'm serious. Rivera I'm not convinced is going to be an every day player but I think he'll be a good 4th outfielder that can play all 3 positions. Choate has good stuff but his control has always been weak when he's up with the big club. He could turn into a very good player but the chances are slim.

Now I like Vazquez, a lot. If the Yankees were going to acquire a starter he's who I wanted. But right now the taste of the Jeff Weaver deal is still in my mouth and I'm very leery of this move.

If we want to resign Guerrero we'll have to trade Mr 8M$ Vidro. Yes, he might be the best 2nd baseman in the NL but his salary is very high and the return could be even more impressing then Vazquez. I'm sure a lot of teams would jump on the opportunity and give us some future star player like they have for so many years.

Good trade btw, but I question our pitching staffs ability now.

I like this pitching staff as well. If they are healthy, I think both Armas and L.Hernandez can be better than Vasquez. If the Expos manage to resign Guerrero, they are still contenders.

Calloway/Rivera Wilkerson Guerrero

Zeile Cabrera Vidro Johnson

Barrett

L. Hernandez
Armas
Ohka
Vargas
O. Hernandez

Zeile is a UFA and has express his desire to play near his family, in California I think. Termel Sledge is right now the perfect candidate over Calloway/Rivera.
