It's nearly impossible to make it look realistic, although since the actual Avatar is 125x125 you could make it look believable.

I think it would have been better tu put the face of Guy Carbonneau and Guy Lafleur instead of Kovalev and Plekanec.

Yup it looks perfect when small, you should Smooth out the Gui Unit writing though, you using Photoshop? If so just add a simple 1 px white stroke in the blending options.
