If Theo and a 1st is the cost (just to get rid of Theo's salary)

Then it's Forsberg and Pitkanen for Williams, Stoa, Svatos, & Vaananen.

I'm guessing Holmgren might still walk away.

7 It's fantastic Peter got back so early and in such a good shape. A small gamble on a player who always shows up in one piece as PO gets closer.

he was talking about forsberg

No way are we giving up Hensick AND a 1st round pick. That pick will likely be a 10-15 overall. I would give Theo and a first rounder OR Hensick (not both) for Forsberg and Esche(we need a backup if we trade Theo).

Our fans on the boards are fanatic in that regard.
Why do you think we want him in the first place?

Garbage proposal. Don't pollute the board with that drivel.

He got BACK from injury early. He was in good shape when he got back. When he does his little comebacks he usually plays very well. On a better team that would have been more visible. On a bad team, like ours, comebacks are more difficult. Peter knows how to creat offense, which shows immediately in the games. He doesn't need 20 games to get to his level, he needs 3-4.

Since it was on TV, this Forsberg and Theodore rumour, I wanted to elaborate alittle to make the trade debatable. Just Theodore for Forsberg is ridiculous. Flyers doesn't see Forsberg as a negative liability, like Theodore. They want as much as possible for him and with "dozens" of team rumoured interrested in Forsberg, it would take some to get him. I know this year is not as important as the next, the Avs being reluctant to trade away makes sense. But with PO in jeopardy and the possibility of Forsberg signing with his newest team, taking Sakic with him, the Avs maybe would do a trade. I've been following the Avs for 10 years, and I know the PR of this is huge. He makes his point a game, about as many goals per game as before, but dipping in assist, because of a lousy team. That and groins (not the worlds most feared injury) speaks of POTENTIAL. That's why teams are lining up now. Teams that has reason to gamble, those in the PO hunt or those now looking to survive a round in the PO, and those with PR reasons, not the Ducks who are wiser to go after Sundin etc.

Where do you get this ridiculous notion from? Sakic didn't "follow" Forsberg to Philly last year, why would he "follow" him anywhere this year?

Hello Mike!

Hatcher plays 25 min a game. He is never hurt. He is a negative asset, but not as much as Theodore. Tonight he played 30 min, saving us twice. He had a period of +12 in the middle of this season. On a team that can score he would not look so bad. Sometimes trades involve "negative" assetts. Forsberg creates offense like before, but no one is scoring. He usually must be more offensive than on a winning team, creating some turnovers. Hatcher would fit better on a winning team. Playing 15 minutes would do some good for him. Doing what he does best would create better opportunities for Skrastins and Vaananen etc to what they do best etc. The risk with Hatcher is that we can only buy him out a year later than Theodore at about the same salary.

I bet that groin is from all the biking...he must stay/get in shape for the PO

You always pick on non-english people? I was talking of Forsberg already being with the Avs. He might then be reluctant to head to center Shanahan in New York for 6 million. Sorry!

4 "Simple" Reasons

1- Why would anybody want Jose Theodore (???), over Robert Esche ???
2- Why would anyone want Jose Theodore (???), over Robert Esche ???
3- Why would any team want Jose Theodore (???), over Robert Esche ???
4- Why would any franchise want Jose Theodore (???), over Robert Esche ???

Ps/Btw. The Buyout option on Theodore's contract is STILL not a valuable reason to do this dumb move.

It was not my intention to pick on you for not having English as your primary language. I guess I just misunderstood when you said, "But with PO in jeopardy and the possibility of Forsberg signing with his newest team, taking Sakic with him, the Avs maybe would do a trade." I thought you were saying Forsberg would go to a new team, and Sakic would sign there in the off-season because of Forsberg. If that's not what you were saying, I apologize for my misunderstanding. I wasn't trying to make fun of your language skills.

And as I suspected the replies coming in from Philly fans is a big fat flying NO.
Vast underpayment for a franchise defensemen.

To the Avs: Forsberg, Hatcher, Esche (UFA)

To Flyers: Theodore, 07 firstrounder, Hensick, Vaananen (UFA) and Arnason (UFA)

Might give the Avs a chance to reach PO this season, while not giving up much to next (cup run) season except taking on Hatchers salary (and getting rid of Theodore's).
I love Foppa, but this trade doesn't make sense for the Avs. Hatcher isn't in his prime anymore. Forsberg is still a world-class talent, but his injured WAY too frequently for me to want him back on this team. We enjoyed his best years, we don't need him back just so he can watch the games from the press box.

The Avs aren't going to want rental players, they want younger players they can build a strong team with.

What exactly are the expecting for a guy who can't stay healthy? His trade value is at an all time low right now. The Flyers are nuts if they think somebody is going to give them a 1st rounder or a top prospect. Foppa for Theo straight up is almost a equal trade. Both players have lost alot of value.

Rangers might trade Prucha and a high draft pick for him. I wouldn't be surprised. They could use another play-maker considering the lack of depth.
