Well this came together quickly. Chappy just called him late last night. He coaches at the Cooler (in Alpharetta), by the way. So he's local. It will likely only be for a few games.
Gladiators Sign NHL Veteran Pearson
FORWARD TO BE IN LINE UP TONIGHT
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – JANUARY 20, 2007
The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that they have signed forward Scott Pearson. An 11 year NHL veteran and Atlanta resident will be in the line up for the Gladiators for tonight’s 7:35 p.m. match up against the Florida Everblades on the Your Best Rate Financial Home Ice at the Arena at Gwinnett Center .
Pearson had a career high 19 goals and 18 assists for 37 points in 72 games for the Edmonton Oilers during the 1993-94 season. He began his professional career with the Toronto Maple Leafs during 1989-90 season posting 15 points in 41 games.
Playing his final professional season overseas in Germany during 2000-01 with the Essen Mosquitoes, Pearson collected 34 points in 51 games. Prior to his time overseas, Pearson played three seasons with the Chicago Wolves from 1997-2000 helping Chicago to the IHL’s Turner Cup Championship in 1998 and again in 2000.
In 292 career NHL games over 11 seasons with Toronto , Buffalo , Edmonton , Quebec and the New York Islanders, Pearson collected 56 goals 42 assists and 98 points while registering 615 penalty minutes.
We were in Milwaukee for a playoff game, Wolves vs Admirals. Scott Pearson had taken a high stick to the face near the eye and went off for repairs. A minute later he came back out to the bench to challenge the Admirals bench, blood streaming down his face. Powerful image.
He continues to be one of my all-time favorite Wolves players.
