Ok, but who do you take him over? Comparatively speaking.

Eaves
Kessel
Malkin
Parise
Staal
Steen
Vanek

What about Alexander Semin? Kyle Wellwood? Travis Zajac? Nathan Horton? Alexei Nikiteev?

Plenty of good, young players were snubbed in the East.

I'm confused, as I don't know the criteria for this - but why would a 24 year old even be eligible for such a game? I know it's only his 2nd season in the NHL, but he's hardly a kid. For me 'young stars' would be 19/20/21 year olds, but maybe the definition of a young star is different over here in the UK

If this were last season I could understand the annoyance of him not being on the team, but since this season he hasnt been his best I understand why he isnt on that team. Now one can argue he hasnt been put into a position where he can perform at his best, and I wouldnt disagree. However leaving him out of the All-Star game based on his performance this season makes perfect sense.

Semin is a stud. I really like him. Everyone and rightfully so talks about the big guy in washington, but this kid is no slouch. He may be a betetr buy at a cheaper price.

It's a shortened game - three 12 minute periods - and it's 3 on 3 shinny basically. These are the games I'd love to play in as a tender because you have absolutely no chance at making a save 80% of the time, so when you do it ends up being some unbelievable eye-popper. It's a bunch of 3 on 0's and 3 on 1's. Good fun that doesn't count toward your stats.

dont say that, u might give bettman an idea to try to make the NHL like that. I could only imagine what would happen if he did that.

I think Prucha is too old to be there anyway. As Ranger fans, we tend to view 24 years olds as kids...even though the NHL actually views kids as 19-20.

Half of the players are 23 and 24 year olds, so I don't think age would be the problem...

That's a lie. Petr Budaj is the only player over 23 and it's because the West is desperate to find a goalie. Then there are only 2 other 23 year olds. Everyone else is younger.

Age isn't the problem, it's his play this season, (less ice-time, 4th line, and limited pp time), that's keeping him from going.

how does it really go? if it's age then why is crosby going to the real all-star game w/ the pro's..

I thought it was for first yr players...or players counted as rooks..

I don't think there is anyone on that list that Prucha should bump out of a spot...

There is an age restriction...I don't remember exactly what it is, but it is 24 and a certain amount of months. Crosby isn't in the Young Stars because he made the Real Stars game. Same with all the other young stars (Staal, Ovechkin, etc.)

Semin should have made this team over guys like Steen and Eaves (BTW, I'm a big fan of Eaves, wish we drafted him).

Staal over Semin? Meanwhile Semin is having a better year then Staal? I do not get it..They definitley used last season as part of their rulings too..had to be.

Are these the full rosters?

I never watched the young stars game before so I don't even know if this is a 60 minute game but I saw theres only 4 defenders in each team and 1 gk?

The kid did score 30 goals last season. Since there was no Young Games last year, I think JOrts just believes Prucha should get a chance this year.

I think Semin didn't make it cuz of the season he played in '04 I believe, I mean he's technically not a rookie, but do you think the NHL considers him a 3rd year player even tho he played last year overseas while the Caps had his rights? I mean based on the rosters it looks like you have to be a first or second year player...
