The Latest from San Jose
LW Ville Nieminen was a healthy scratch for a fifth straight game. Injured Sharks C Marcel Goc (back spasms) and D Kyle McLaren (knee scope) missed third and second straight games, respectively. - San Francisco Chronicle

Not a bad option to get a little grittier??????

I miss his crazy faces but I don't think the Rangers need him back. He'd be just another veteran who can't score.

We had him last year... while he could grind it out, he took way to many penalties and looked very slow...

Good Lord, why would we need yet ANOTHER "gritty, but adds nothing to the offense" player? We freakin' had him last year and got rid of him!

I don't think...

that the fact that a player has been a healthy scratch, or place on waivers, is a sign for the Rangers to pursue. Ville was traded for a reason (he didn't bring what he was supposed to bring). He's sitting for a reason (presumably the same as why the Rangers traded him). I don't think picking him up with thus make much sense.

If I want funny, I'll look out the window and watch people fall on the ice. I liked Niemo, but there's no place left for him here. Maybe we can get him to report to Hartford to keep Kasparaitis company next season?

All Ville would give us is another grinder with little-to-no scoring ability. We already have more than two lines of forwards like that (Betts, Ortmeyer, Hollweg, Ward, Hossa, Krog, Orr).

The nly way i would take that one demesion piece of crap back would be to trade a Defensemen the other way. Good bye to Malik or Rosie and ok anythig else is a waste.

Awards:
He certainly sounds like the Nieminen that got traded last season.

Seems to be that there is already enough inconsistency on the bottom two lines.

Yikes, haven't we got enough "grit and heart" players...come on now, what upgrade is he over Ward, Orts, Hollweg, Bettes, Hall etc etc etc.

I definitely remember that. I loved his hitting and the fact that he never hesitated to blast one in on net, but the penalties drove me nuts.

Ville is a player that belongs in the pre-lockout NHL. That's where he thrived and the new rules are the reason he isn't thriving now. He hasn't made the transition: in skillset, or frame of mind.
