I know this probably has already been touched upon (I wasnt around for the conversations) but who the hell chooses what players are in and what players are not?
My understanding is that the requirements is that the player needs to be in his first pro contract....
if that's the case then how is Chris Higgins not in the youngstars game? Hell...even Latendresse should be there in front of players like Steen and Phil Kassel...
You have to give credit to phil for beating his cancer but since when has that been a by to the youngstars game? If that's the case then shouldnt Saku be in the All star game for coming back this season even better than last year and with one less eye to boot?
how latendresse, higgins and most importantly SEMIN are not on the team before Steen is unbeleivable!
and the big game teams?
no Jagr, no igilna no kovalchuck no pronger no neidermeyer?!
From what I've heard, Jagr doesn't want to risk further injury and Pronger and Neidermayer are injured too. What do you want them to do, force themselves to play through pain for an All Star game in the build up to a playoff drive? That'd be smart.
There are a few choices and omissions that are curious decisions though, I agree. But 2 of the people you mention have broken/fractured feet and for all we know, the likes of Kovalchuk may have declined for other reasons. It will be a shame that some people won't be there, but instead of everyone moaning about who isn't there, how about we look forward to the people who will be? I know I will be cheering for Cristobal and Sheldon (and Yanic) and looking forward to Ovechkin playing alongside Crosby amongst other things.
