Grebs goes under the knife

I mentioned this on another thread. Grebs is going under the knife to repair a fractured wrist. I would imagine he's out for awhile.

i hope this is just coincidence that he's been hurt twice so far this year. i'd be distraught if we had another injury-prone player.

My opinion: No such thing as injury prone, there are players that have been hurt and players that will be hurt.

A good clean healing and productive downtime for our number one prospect.

Uh, you tell that to Darren Dreifort.

Some guy's bodies weren't meant for the beating their talent puts them through.

The Kings have had some awful luck, but I think overall the league has had more injuries which is a result of the workout programs, all the padding they wear which gives players a false sense of security as it relates to physical play, but more importantly, the lack of respect guys have for each other in today's game and the inability of the players to police themselves.

Fortunately, Denis is only 19, 20 years old so hopefully he can heal quick. The only bad thing is that this hurts his chances of being called up this year. Granted, from all the talk, it didn't seem that he was quite ready yet, but I guess we will have to see how he does in September to see if he will make the big club next year.

That's all pending that there is hockey next September

Update of Grebeshkov's Status

The Manchester Monarch's Injury Report lists Grebeshkov as being out for 2 to 3 months following the surgery.

i agree completely. i would also add, however, that as the league has expanded and the talent pool has diluted slightly, there has been a push for bigger players. completely understandable; i mean, if you're going to have a marginaly player on your team, you may as well get one with soem meat so that he can put the hurt on.

bottom line, long, grueling seasons (which in my opininon should have fewer games, have breaks, and be more spread out), padding that seems to protect better than it does, and ever-larger players playing more physical styles equals more injuries.

now, i really hope that grebeshkov is not an exceptionally fragile player. but, it does scare me that he's missed extended time twice this season. he may be the next bobby orr, but if he's not going to be able to suit up for at least 60 games every year, then i don't want him on my team. i'm not saying trade him tomorrow, or even the next time he gets hurt, but i am saying watch out. if a stronger and longer trend develops, he needs to be removed from our organization's plans.
