Leadership by example appears to be a concept that is pretty much well understood around the league...just not recognized by SCThrash.

There was a stat on the ESPN ticker today that said Joe Sakic's 18 career all-star game points is more than the entire eastern conference roster.

Given the lack of d at these things and the quality of players in the East I'd say that won't stay on the ticker for much past second period. It'd be amazing to see him carry that through the next year or two but he's going to have to step it up even another notch (if that's possible) to do so.

[edit] Man was I wrong with that one. Mia Culpa, Mia Culpa, Mia Culpa!!!!! Joe did indeed step it up a couple of notches. God, who knew he read my posts and would be so pissed off over them to go out and make it a point to ridicule me. Good for him!

And this is what hockey has fallen to in the US -- Chuck Norris gets an in-game interview about his World Combat League (airing on Versus). Yes, the World Combat League.

Also, railcam has to go. I can't imagine someone who has never watched hockey before trying to watch for the first time tonight. The only camera angles you need are the standard broadcast position on the red line, the two cameras behind the nets attached to the glass, the cameras high above the nets to review questionable goals, and the cameras in the nets. All should be in HD. The rest are not worth it.

Joey just made a sweet pass to Havlat for his 3rd assist of the game.

It's a fun game, but the Versus broadcast leaves plenty to be desired. Other then that, I'm posting a live blog of the game as it goes (or more like updating every period)

BTW: Altitude is showing the Colorado Eagles vs. Laredo Bucks right now. So if you are bored, or don't want to watch the live country performance, you have options.

I have to admit... I've enjoyed the mic'ed goaltender segments. Especially Turco's comments here in the third period.

(As the period starts) "All right, we've got the puck... now if we can just do that for the next twenty minutes."

Great stuff indeed. Turco's comments are terrific. He is the perfect choice to have mic'ed.

Versus finally found something that works with Turco being miked. This is actually fun to watch now.

Awesome. Real time, first person analysis of why a goaltender let a goal in.
