they should bring up either baranka or girardi because they have both been playing good for hartford but if they had to pick i would pick girardi over baranka though
i think we all saw this coming, but his contract was just too much for our a 7th D in the press box. Nothing against Kaspar, but it needed to be done. I think there is a chance that he may either come back or be claimed by another team at half the cap hit.
Seriously, though...I'd be pretty shocked if he were picked up. Hefty price tag for a 34 y.o. defender whose ability to play errodes further with every game.

OK, we need a 7th D-man now....Does it make sense to call up Girardi or Baranka to sit in the stands? Now, if Renney goes into a rotation by merit, that would be nice...But more then likely it will be between Pock, Racunkek and whoeverthe new guy is...

I would keep Baranka and Girardi down for the rest of the season and call up Richter or whatever his name is to fill the 7th D spot. Let them fully develop so if they do make the team next season they will be just about fully devloped

I think if the idea was to fill the 7th d spot, Kaspar might have stayed. Renney's quotes in the Courant suggest he's looking at improving the defense and expects help to come from Hartford.
As for who gets called up, I wonder if they'll even call up a defenseman at the moment. Might call up a forward to test out first.
I'd rather see Baranka in NY than Girardi, mainly because I don't feel Girardi will ever be a real good NHL defenseman and Baranka is more suited to the NHL, but you could see Girardi called up to be the 7th D as well...
While I can see it being the right move, somthing tells me he will be picked up by someone and be effective for them. I dont know why but the possibility of this move's repercusions kind of leave me a little un-easy.
Well once OZO is gone at the end of the season and Kaspar down in the AHL, that frees up like 6 million right there. If the Rangers free up another 3 million or so they can resign all the RFA's (Lundqvist/Prucha) and if Nylander doesn't ask for like more than 3 million there might be room to sign a good UFA center in the off season.

Not so sure it is as cut and dried as that...If the call up is to be inserted in the line-up in the top 6, more then likely means that one of the two young guys Pock or Rachunek unless the coach has finally changed his stripes and will consider the likes of Ward and Malik....We'll see...And I guess wither is fine becasue I have no problem with Rachunek sitting...
