The TEAM 1200 is reporting Torres for Corvo as the rumour.

I sure as hell hope not, Corvo is good offensively, and a PP QB we need, but not good enough to give up Torres.

I voted yes, but it wouldn't be Torres or Lupul. This would be a salary dump from Ottawa, and I think it would be for picks/prospects.

Corvo could help this team, for sure, but Torres or Lupul straight up for him is an overpayment.

Young, skilled forward for an underachieving d-man with a huge contract? Yikes.

I have never seen Corvo play, so I can't say whether or not this would be a worthy trade, but I am deadset against trading Lupul, and fairly close to deadset against trading Torres.

this is the exact type of deal i (and others) have been warning about for over a month now.... i dont think lowe is so foolish as to make such a bad trade, but you never know.... this is the cost of us trying to compete this year.... its not worth, we're in next year country already and the faster management understands this the better

I keep on reading that but sorry it makes no sense.

Can you name me ANY team in the last 30 years that went into selling mode when they were 4 points back of a playoff spot with this many games left?

I could see a Corvo/Torres deal, but due to age and contract I would think Ottawa would have to kick in a draft pick, a 2nd or 3rd rounder at the least.

I should add that I really hope this is no more than a Plan 'D' scenario.

We would get fleeced with that deal IMO. Garrioch seems to be stumping this rumour.

Corvo from what I can gather is a larger version of MAB (except he makes 1 million more than MAB). Good offensively but is often an adventure in his own zone.

Everyone seems to want Torres but for a song. I am not saying he has blockbuster value but come on.

I don't like it.
Corvo isn't the answer...and not for the amount of money he's making.

Plus, I think Torred or Lupul would be an overpay. Those two are still very young and will eventually get out of their funk.

A huge no! Maybe a depth C like Reasoner.... Corvo doesn't have close to that value..

Funny, I'm pretty sure that I read a lot of posts in many many other threads demanding that Lowe get a legitimate NHL defenseman. Any defenseman. If it costs a little extra, just do it. Get it done. Isn't this what a lot of posters wanted?

Thinking about it more, I don't want Corvo at any price. It limits our ability to sign both a legit #1 or 2 d-man and Smyth. Pass

Corvo would help our situation, but then again, almost adding any decent dman would. Regardless, its much too early to give up on Lupul, and I would hate to see Torres go.

My vote is no!

Lowe will get not bandaid the situation, he will fix it! Expect something big!

Certainly not me. People who said anyone for any price were either talking out of frustration or were not thinking it through clearly.

If it costs either Torres or Lupul we better be getting a top pairing (as in a #2 guy even on a decent D corps) guy that is not a rental in return IMO. Corvo is a bottom pairing guy IMO, is that what we want to overpay for? I would overpay for a Visnovsky or someone similar that is not a rental but Corvo (I would take Corvo but for Winchester and a 4th or something like that - though on second though no altogether as it eats up Cap space we need for a better D).

...

Would anyone do Lupul & Tjarnqvist for Corvo, Hennessy & 2nd round pick?

If I was Lowe would consider this deal. Personally, I like Lupul alot, and was very excited when I learned he would be an Oiler this year, but it seems like he isn't going to be as successful in Edmonton as he could be in a different environment. Sure, I can only gather this from write ups on boards and in the papers, but it also shows on his on ice play. Yes, he has plenty of potential, future 40 goal scorer, and I honestly hope he reaches that potential.

But, If Edmonton did have a player like Hennessey in their system, combined with Schremp, Pouliot and Jacques, one of those three would be more likely to be dealt at the deadline for a defensemen. Something like Jacques and a 3rd for Brewer.

Sure, this is just what I would consider, I give it about a 1 in 398 869 100 chance of happening.

Corvo is a liability on defense, he's a Bergeron but in a bigger frame with less of a shot.

I think if at the right price Corvo would be okay and an upgrade on some at moving the puck. But for Torres or Lupul that wouldn't make sense. Perhaps if the Sens added another forward to even out the deal maybe.

I don't like Lupul or Torres for Corvo

why?

http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/p...php3?pid=22067

1) 30 Years of age and both Lupul and Torres have a far better up swing then him

2)He is not fitting into the new NHL

3)He one good year with LA and get a good contract

4)NOt that physical of a d-man

5)Lupul is having a bad year adjsting and is just 23. Torres has proven he can score 20 in this league and is 4 years younger then Corvo. Ott got abda contract and they are trying to move it

Agreed... I would absolutely hate this deal to go down (assuming it involves Lupul or Torres). Corvo is far from what this team needs, I've never been a fan of his, and I don't think he's worth anywhere near Lupul or Torres. Add in the fact that he's got a pretty hefty contract (number and moreso length) and we would have a more difficult time establishing the core of this team with Smyth and a solid D UFA that myself and many people are hoping for. I'd like to see the Smyth situation decided before anything, IMO that should be the deciding factor in which direction this team is going. Joe Corvo is definitely not the name I like to see floating around here though... Preissing or Redden on the other hand

I'm not the biggest Hennessy fan, so I would consider this deal.
