I'd love Forsberg

But let's be honest, how many rumours have come true since Gainey has taken over??

Pokerface doesn't let anything out

Philadelphia Inquirer writer Tim Panaccio just posted that Forsberg is NOT in Colorado, he is not going to Colorado and no team has directly contacted Forsberg. So that part of the rumours are false.

He also quotes the guy currently running the Flyers saying that although they are getting a lot of calls, they aren't going to trade him now and instead want to sit down and talk to FOsberg about his future.

You can bet a goalie would be in the deal, and both Danis and Halak have good value. Nitty has been awesome in the AHL but his NHL play isin't that stellar and the Flyers could use a goalie with potential. The Flyers clearly have to do something with thier older players, the team is dead last and probaly want to rebuild around Gagne and Pitkanen. But the Forsberg rumors have been around a while now and it probaly won't happen because BG never leaks out anything.

Apparently, we would have to unload a mid-level prospect and a 1st rounder.

Kostitsyn+1st rounder for Forsberg!

Oh baby, I'm getting excited!

PLEASE BOB!!
#1 It doesn't fit under the cap
#2 Forsberg is way too injury prone, no way we trade for him...

Probably right but I think I would still do it. Montreal is well known for risky trades and I thinjk they are now in possition that they should go through with one. Even if we do lose Kostitsyn we have plenty of other good young propects that his lose wont hurt us.

I don't see why would we give two potential first/second line forwards (or a D, depending who we'll pick next draft) for a guy who'll be there only until the rest of the season. We have basically no chance of winning the cup anyway.

I don't want to give up anything for Forsberg, I don't want Forsberg. We all know what will happen. He trade a good young prospect for him and good pick.. Both end up becoming good producers in the league and we get Forsberg for a game and a hell of a lot of injury time.

The toughest pill to swallow for any team lucky enough to get Forsberg is that he will likely sign back in Philly in the offseason. This means the Flyers will basically be letting Forsberg go out and pimp himself for the last quarter season just to win some extra talent for the future which will include Foppa. Tough, tough pill to swallow.

We have some good kids but as skilled as Kostitsyn, never!

Right now, do you really think it is wise to trade off young talent and potential young talent for a couple months of an injury prone Forsberg?

Our team just had a major slump, and it is clear to everyone that we are not consistent enough as a team to go out there and win a cup. Not this year, I think we should bide our time and let our prospects develop and we will reach our goal. And it is not like we are spending our future much like Anaheim did to get Pronger, because Pronger is locked up for a couple years, has little to not injury history and last year was a key part to a run to game seven of the stanley cup finals. I haven't seen quite the resume from Forsberg lately.

i could see something like this...

mid level prospect + 3rd rounder with future considerations

ie: the 3rd rounder turns into a 1st rounder if the habs win the stanley cup; and/or they lose the 3rd rounder if Forsberg gets injured BEFORE the playoffs; if Forsberg gets injured During the playoffs and the habs win the cup, the 3rd rounder still becomes a 1st.

just my two cents

I think it would be:
Samsonov + 1st
for Foppa
or
Plecks + 1st
for Foppa

Either one and its done deal, I'm sold!

Those deals, I would do. However, we'd have to be sold one of our players in Hamilton can come up next year and play a second-line center role (Grabovski being the only one in my mind) or be certain we can get that center via UFA next season.

i wouldn't be surprised that the Habs are right in the mix... we've been reading it for a while now, just because the team says it doesn't mean they weren't talking before.

i'm not doubting the fact the habs are at the top of the list... i'd love to see forsberg here, that would be pretty sweet! i'm just worried about what we give up. but who knows, maybe this evolves into a Kovalev situation... he plays, he likes it here, he stays... who knows... guess we'll just wait and see

'Course he likes it here, he gets injured and the media craps on Gainey for what a terrible idea it was to trade for an injury-prone Forsberg. Meanwhile Leclair scenario 2 happens and Habs fans have nightmares of Houle.

And what was so bad about the Blues getting Gretzky? Forsberg gives you guys an experienced and proven player, who is on the downslope of a brilliant career. Believe me when I say he will greatly improve your chances to win in the playoffs....while a mid level prospect will unlikely have that sort of impact at all in their career....

that probably would've been more effective if you put "never" is caps and in bold... but to each his own

thats why i'm worried about what we give up... mind u, if it brings us the Cup, i'm all for it... and/or if forsberg signs i'm game... but that's just wishful thinking on my part
