Anaheim - Selanne to San Jose
Selanne had his best days in Anahiem, I don't see how this was their worst deal of all time

Calgary: Brett Hull trade
They won the Cup without him the next year.

Colorado: Mats Sundin to Toronto
They won the Cup without him.

Philadelphia: trading away the 1990's for Lindros
Sigh... this one has been explained enough times on this board that I'm sick of repeating it.

Washington: letting Scott Stevens go

They didn't let him go, NJ was awarded Stevens because of the Shanahan signing.

No so. Washington didn't match the offer St. Louis made to Stevens and took the 5 1sts instead. St.Louis is the team that lost Stevens due to the Shany signing.

*Washington* letting Stevens go to *St Louis* (this was before the Shanahan signing that sent him to NJ).

Washington did get five first-round picks from that compensation, though, one of whch is now Sergei Gonchar (The other four: Trevor Halverson, Brendan Witt, Nolan Baumgartner and Miika Elomo).

When Toronto got back Wendel Clark with that terrible trade with the Islanders in 1996

Leafs get a worn down Clark because of fan pressure, Schneider and DJ Smith for Kenny Jonsson, Darby Hendrickson Sean Haggerty and the 4th overall pick which was Luongo or Brewer (5th).

I still get pissed at that trade.

Actually it was for 2 guys, neither of which ever played a single shift in the NHL. Sam Pollock was a genius.

Edmonton: Miro Satan for Barrie Moore and Craig Millar. Brutal.

I don't care what Calgary and Colorado did after the trades, they still lost big time on the trades.

I don't know what you're tired of explaining with the Lindros deal, but even though they were able to get a new arena out of the whole situation it was still a horrible hockey deal.

Washington did let Stevens go. He went to St. Louis. A year later he was awarded to NJ.

The ultimate goal of any hockey team is to win the Cup. When Calgary traded Hull, they got Ramage and Wamsley, maybe not stars, but it could easily be argued that they helped win Calgary a Cup. Thats all that matters.

Sometimes you need good veterans who are solid, give you depth and good in the room, more than a 20yr old goal scorer with a chip on his shoulder.

(dont get me wrong, I love Hull, but until he got to Dallas, he was not a team player in my opinion)

Shjon Podein to St. Louis for Mike Keane was bad.

it's confusing. somehow Nashville was involved too. all i know is that San Jose had the 1st overall pick, and in the end, they had Bryan Marchment and Dave Lowry. oooh, that one stings, Jim.
