Rink of Dreams- The Aftermath

Given the response to the first Rink of Dreams article, what follows is the results of a meeting with the Nashville Predators due to that article on PredNation.

Great stuff David. Thanks for sharing your meeting with them.

Its interesting that they mentioned the NHL's lack of marketing. I think it is something that the league can do better.

On top of marketing and our local media, regarding the Anaheim game, the average Joe here probably had no idea that it was 1 vs 2. Was this brought up any further?

Did you guys talk about ticket prices at all?

Great article.

Like everyone else here, I feel so frustrated to see empty seats on gameday. I have talked to numerous co-workers that said, "we would go if the prices were not so high...", etc.

I would be ecstatic if we saw more NHL commercials during non-Hockey broadcasts.

Hey, you tried, and both articles were excellent. Its hard to fathom that a team that a league that relies so heavily on gate attendance, refuses to spend the money that other leagues do on advertising....

Great article and good to have you talking but most of it entirely misses the point IMO. All topics mentioned seem primarily aimed at generating more individual interest or corporate sponsorships when the absolute primary task at hand is to sell more corporate ticket packages. The things discussed may have some indirect bearing but fail to tackle the problem head-on.

I'm convinced that there are ways to segment and successfully approach Nashville's business community to drive corporate sales but these guys don't seem to have an inside track on how to penetrate that/those worlds.
