Sexton is hired to be Martin's "dollars and cents" guy in the same week that Bertuzzi returns to practice. Coincidence? I suspect that JM had decided that the assistant GM needed to be in position just after the all star break so that the new hire could deal with Bertuzzi negotiations (which need to be started well before the trade deadline) while JM focuses on coaching.

very good point. in the history of the franchise, this clearly is one of the most critical stretches from a management perspective. they've gotta do really well.

Well, he was at practice today, dressed in a bright yellow jersey which I assume means no contact. He participated in a rebound drill when shots are fired but then just kinda skated around the ice gingerly, and took some shots. But, he seemed to be checking his bearings and just trying to get back into the swing of things. On a side note, Olesz is truly a class act, he launched a puck over the net for a little girl and he is ALWAYS the last one to leave the ice after practice that I've seen. Genuinely, a good guy.

I like Bert's quote at the end. Maybe it's just lip service, but nice to hear nonetheless.
