Jagr leads the league.
Asides from the fact that this stat is useless (Gretzky led the league in it nearly every year. Turns out if you have the puck a lot you lose the puck a lot), the statisticians at Rexall give out giveaways more easily (to both teams) than any other in the league.

Might be so but 6 out of 30...I don't think the Oilers have the puck that much

Which of course is why I mentioned the Rexall statistician giving out the Giveaways like candy on Halloween.

Must take a lot of time to do the analysis of all the give-aways across the league

Beautiful argument.

Next time the Oilers play a road game, compare their giveaways to their last home game against the same team.

All I'm saying is that in the end it will even out. Just because you don't like a stat is no reason to rationalize it away.

You can't be this dumb.

If the Oilers play half of their games in a building where twice as many giveaways occur than any other building, how is it going to even out? PLEASE explain this to me.

Oilers on December 6th and 26th against Vancouver..

Oiler giveaways in Edmonton: 21 (25 for Vancouver).
Oiler giveaways in Vancouver: 6 (5 for Vancouver)

Maybe it's time to retire Paul.

One example WOW...I am sure glad that you watch every game and are able to provide analysis on them all..

If you want to throw insults...Are you stupid enough to think that the NHL doesn't keep an eye on these things?

Or do you just have a hard-on for Jason Smith

I'm watching for the complete lack of effort from 80% of the team.

Look through the archives if you want to find a few threads about how craptastic the giveaway stat is. I'm pretty sure I made a thread about it something like a year ago.

It actually doesn't because the collecting of stats such as giveaways and hits aren't collected in a standard way.

That's why, for example, Ville Neminen(sp) can get 7 hits in game one of the Western Conference Semifinals and then he never gets anywhere close to that the rest of the series.

I'm not saying this team isn't committing alot of giveaway, but I would bet the hockey savvy stat takers in Edmonton, might be a little tougher on the players, then someone doing it in Atlanta or Dallas.

WOWOW. I can't get over how fast they're hustling. And they score because of it! Where has this team been?!

If that man doesn't play his entire career as an Oiler I'm quitting watching hockey.

You're not worth the effort. The Oilers tend to have 5 giveaways on the road and 30 at home. They tend to have the same amount as the team they're playing. I wonder why? Block lists, yay!

Ryan Smyth with the goal!

BOO YA!

Mere hours after I said they need to put this line back together and it's the key to Hemsky being Hemsky again.

If the oilers don't win this game they need to consider rebuilding.

There, that's how you jump on a visiting team. Now keep the pedal to the medal.
