You do realize that Giguere didn't make any changes to his leg pads.

what are you talking about?Giguere didn't have to make any adjustments with his pads...if he did us duck fans would be using it as an excuse.

The complaint is about his chest protector that seems to stick up when he goes in the butterfly. He looks like a linebacker in football...

These aren't great pictures, but you can see that there's almost no shoulder definition. He's still a pretty damned good goalie, and it's hard to say how the oversized chest protector really affects his performance..but, as has been brought up, it would appear to help him in the butterfly when the top-shelf is usually open.

This is hardly exact science, and others might see differently, but with Brodeur you can see the curvature of his shoulders. It'd be better to compare them in a similar position...

He had to take out that inner knee guard, but so did a lot of goalies.

Regardless, the Wings fan was right: teams are torching him high glove every time. His confidence is gone. The scrambling, idiotic defense in front of him is not helping, but even so, Gerber looks much more calm and in control.

Well you're right, in that the removal of the cheater isn't why Giguere is playing like crap.

EVERYTHING he wears is oversized. Those random spot checks after games by Kris King on his equipment must be driving him crazy.

Of course it is. Giguere doesn't believe in his own mind that he's an all-star minus his cheaters so he's lost his confidence.

I not sure what his problem is, but I wish he would start playing better. Last year he had a good year, followed up with a unbeliveable playoffs. I think he is having a hard time dealing with the fact he can't always play the way he did in the playoffs, and its messing his head.

Everything? How do you know? Do you measure his pads? The only thing they told him to cut of was a 1/2 inch off his shoulder pads, yet everyone seems to think all of his pads are illegal. I just find it funny how because of his all of a sudden playoff run everyone talks about his pads but no one mentioned his pads when he was one of the best goalies no one was talking about for 2 years. It just annoys me that everyone thinks this guys success is because of his pads which pretty much checked out to be legal. Look around the league and all the goalies look huge nowadays. I agree with Chock, Giguere doesnt have any confidence in his game right now and the sloppy play of the defense isnt helping matters much.

don't make stupid claims you can't back up
Gerber's leg pads are larger then Giguere's and both are inside the legal limit
Yeah, his shoulder pads are big and it looks like he has a pillow under his sweater, but it's legal
I would guess the only change he has had to make to his equipment as a whole from last year is the removal of the "cheater" on the inside of the legs

We understand that crap is legal. The point is that it really shouldn't be.

No, the original point road warrior making was that removal of this phantom equipment has caused his slump this season. Since he hasn't removed any, it doesn't seem likely.

Try paying attention to yourself. You might not miss something that way. He's a cheater. He can't cheat as much, so he doesn't win. Simple.

File this under the category of:

"Road Warrior doesn't have a clue."

You might try paying attention to me a little better yourself, especially if you're going to stalk me on the internet.

I did explain that he's getting beat high, not through his legs. The statement he hasn't gotten rid of any gear means any gear of consequence, which is true. That conclusion just screams common sense which is probably why it eluded you.

The chest/shoulder pads have always been what I thought was oversized. With all the focus on the leg pads, his chest pad looks like a refrigerator.

I really believe that he may be a victim of hype. He had a great playoff last year, nobody denies that. He has been a pretty good goalie for a few years now, but when everyone starts making the ridiculous comparisons to Brodeur and saying he will be better than other young goalies who realistically are probably going to better, that's what the problem is.

He certainly was overhyped, but that hasn't made him suck so far this season.

Gerber was excellent in shutting the Stars down last night and Giguere might be looking at a lengthy stretch of bench warming and shot charting while he figures out what's going on with his game.
