I'm all Flames and I know for a fact that we are missing some peices.Ya I know the Flames have played well without Iggy but we need a little more depth.Someone like Owen Nolan,Tkachuk,Guerin,Havlat or Nagy and even Gelinas but he alone is not enough.Maybe more defence -Zyuzin sucks.

I see a typical Sutter depth move, we will get knocked out in the first round of the playoffs again because he doesn't want to take any risks. Have some balls Sutter and pull the trigger on the Forsberg deal, sacrifice some picks, most of them turn out to be busts anyway!

Do you really think Forsberg would forego his no trade clause to come to Calgary? Besides, if you are watching this game, it should be obvious to you that the real need for other additions, is on Defense.
Havlat? he's not even close to available... but i think the Flames will be more in te=he market for a top 6 winger and defensive depth more than anything... as well as Moss & Gio have played this season I don;t expect to see them play alot in the playoffs unless there are injuries
Big Needs: Good PK'er, scorer from the 3rd line, good faceoff guy. If they could get a guy who fulfills 2 or even all 3 of these needs that would be ideal.

Yeah, having a GM who doesn't panic and won't make deals that usually work out sucks. Let's say Forsberg or whoever gets injured, or we get knocked out of the playoffs anyway - was it really worth it?
What the Flames need is consistency on the road - not some player who'll leave the team in the offseason.
I'm not saying don't go out and get a player, just think before adding a player and don't go throwing away draft picks and prospects - and if they do add a player, the Flames should add someone they need. We have enough scoring wingers, so why are they being suggested in the first place?
We really need to pick up two 5th/6th defenders, we are fine with Regehr, Phaneuf, Hamrlik and Ference. Warrener has a bum knee and Ritchie Regehr, Giordano and Zyuzin aren't good enough. We should be able to get a couple of rental guys for cheap, maybe give up some mid round picks and some bum prospects.
Giordano is awesome, as is Warrener when he's not injured. Ritchie Regehr and Andrei Zyuzin suck, though.
I agree with you on Giordano.Sure he makes some gaffes here and there but he has more offensive touch with the puck then most of our defenseman.As i said pair him with a defensive defenseman and he is more than good.I think Goirdano will steadliy improve his game and suprise alot of us by next year.
iam actually happy with our team right now. of course getting a guy or two couldnt hurt as long as we dont give up anything of importance on our roster. but seriously, enough with the protecting the draft picks. the time is now for calgary, for all we know we could only have a couple more years of contender status, and then what?? no cup and a couple draft picks. no thanks, i'll take the cup.
but back to the current team. its good. really good. when iginla gets back i really think this team is gonna start to take over, tanguay, lombardi and huselius are clicking as good as we can ever want them too and calgarys a consistant top 5-8 in the league in scoring, we are a very good team already.
that said, if we do get anything it will probably be a good reliable third line forward/centre that can win faceoffs. or maybe a 6th defenceman, but really, iam not worried about giordano. we had commodore and montador step up in the playoffs in 03/04 and i really think giordano is ready to have a full time spot. good offensive replacement for leopold and a hell of alot better then zyuzin.

As some have said, I think we need an extra body on defense. Maybe a guy like Jim Vandermeer, or even a Brad Stuart, although I doubt Sutter would want to give up enough to land him.
